Thats why you're your on my blocked senders list, you drunkard.:JEKYLHYDE At any rate, which one of these replicas is a licensed copy? You may want to hop in here too McD??, since it seems you are all knowing, not only when it comes to Cobras, but also Corvettes. I would think using the name or the design rights that are still in use and owned today would invite trouble from GM. R |
It looks like Superformance has received GM's blessing with their Grand Sport replica. It is being represented as an "Official GM Licensed Product".
Check out the logo on the upper right hand of this page... http://superformance.org/supernews/g...roduction.html I have seen some beautiful GS replicas at Watkins Glen over the years. I took some photos of a GS (replica?) at the Watkins Glen vintage races in September 2006. Anyone know if this was one of the orginals? http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...8210bf80cf.jpg |
I thought most vintage races only allowed original cars, not replicas?

What did the original 5 Grand Sports do in racing history in the early 60's. Did they ever race the Cobra's? Fill me in. Were they successful?
|
Here's a great link to an incredible restoration of an original! /www.racingicons.com/gs/004/index.html These cars were and still are pretty amazing. They were quite the handful to drive and given the year they were developed, they were pretty advanced! These cars have as much lore about them as the Daytona Coupe's. Just check out the link it's some of the best documentation I've ever seen. These guy's also restore GT40's, so if your feeling guilty for looking at Chevy stuff, you can cleanse up afterwords!!! Good Stuff! Matt

So have they ever built any of these?

The first production level units are in build at Hi Tech. Several revisions and improvements have been integrated into the Grand Sports.
Pictures of the master coupe form and the chassis follow......we are taking orders! |

Superformance | Available Inventory |
There was a Motor Trend article in 2009 that said they would be available in 2010? What caused a four year delay?
Looks like that's a CTS-V motor in the pic? |
I can almost see GM's attorneys drooling on this thread:eek:
Ask Peter why He got out of it!! |

GM has been involved from the get go. Without that approval the project would not have been started......nobody wants that "cease and desist" letter! The prototype that was shown at SEMA was in fact finished at the GM Tech Center by GM engineers who had input into some of the production car revisions and improvements. It has been a long road that was slowed by the economy and other factors but the end is in sight now. And yes that is a CTS-V powerplant. |

I was in line at the CA DMV first workday of the year, 2010, with the first buyer of the SPF GS. He later dropped out. Wonder why? I though all that legal stuff was taken care of? |
