Why yes Bill, I thought I proved that I was willing to help other owners when I helped you out of ERA234! LOL

The above is a great attitude. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f8...s/applause.gif Always remember "What goes around comes around." Also, remember the "Golden Rule" is NOT "Those with the gold make the rules." (Though a lot of folks certainly seem to think it is these days.) http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f8...lies/wink2.gif |

You bet I would, even after being thrown in jail for it, long story but I happened to have jumper cables and someone needed a jump, turns out it was a stolen car Ha!
and I have gone as far as going to Maui for 32 day to finish the build on a friends hotrod, and it took every bit of those 32 days to finish it, but I enjoyed every minute of it. |
It's a loaded question. You assume that not helping somebody out has something to do with their choice in Cobra manufacturers.
If that's what you're asking, I'd help a guy out regardless the manufacturer he chose. However, if the guy is a weenie I may not help him out, even if he is a Cobra guy. Of course, the same is true if I needed help and someone thought I was a weenie... ...Saaaaaaaaay, none of you guys helped ME work on MY car! What are you trying to say?!? Just kidding. I know that GotTheBug Doug and tkb289 Tim helped me work on my Cobra, so they don't think I'm a weenie. Right, guys? Uh, guys? DD |

The sentiments of Clois, Fuzzy and Bess ring true round these parts of Texas...
NIPPL = seasoned weekend warrior goodwrench crew in charge of New Install Prior PLanning T.I.T. = Texas Install Team NIPPL and T.I.T. is comprised of JBL, ERA, Shelby, Superformance, Backdraft, Lonestar, Classic, Hurricane, GT500, Ford GT owners and non-vintage ford enthusiasts. Many of who own Vettes, Vipers and other vintage or supercars as daily drivers. I seldom miss a chance to help out a fellow enthusiast in need. Always something to learn, or something to teach. Pay it forward and back, I have done. Every challenge is an opportunity. |
Huh...
Bill, does your thread have anything to do with clubcobra.com's cold response to ffcobra.com's being sued and asking for help? I can understand this site not wanting to be dragged into the mess, but the response from folks on this site seemed a bit underwhelming. |
No!.................As for it being underwhelming, I believe CC and it's members do not want to get sucked into the vortex. Dave Smith and I have conversed and he also now understands.

Bill,
I was a little confused about why you asked a question thats' answer was a given. I have helped everyone in my circle in some fashion, some small and some in a larger sense. Everybody in this circle has helped me in return and none of these give and take things were being tracked on some accounts receivable ledger of mankind. This is just what car people do and why I am proud to be part of it. There are lines that I would not be comfortable crossing but they move with the circumstances too. I will NOT be over to prep and shoot a new color gel coat on your (whatever brand car) but I will help you get started or lend ya a tool etc.. |
if someone owns a car like this they are a car guy hell yes I'd help
|
Always willing to help, one time early in morning around 7am around 20 years ago I pull into a gas station and a well dressed man approached me and said he left his wallet at home and asked if I could loan him $20 as his car had a flat and he needed to get it fixed so he could go to work, I asked him where his car was and he said down the road a couple of blocks so I told him I would fix the flat and make sure he got to work, he was a little uncomfortable about me taking him to his car but after I insisted he jumped in and away we went after more than a mile I said where's your car and he said just a little further so finally he sees a car parked next to a building and said there it is so I pull up and get out and notice 1 tire is low but not flat then some one comes out of the building and asked me what the hell I was doing.. I told them it was this guy's car and was promptly told BS and then I realized it was a scam while the guy I was helping started to turn away while I was yelling at him calling him a few choice names, I think he figured I would get tired of driving and just give him the $20 and let him out, by the way he was very polite-well mannered, etc totally caught me off guard. Needless to say I learned a lesson but I will still to this day help someone in need if possible

I'll help as long as they have beer.
If they don't have beer then I will work on the car while they go get some beer. If they won't go get beer they can get stuffed. They will also need a radio to listen the ball game.:D |

How's this for a definitive answer?

In desperation, I called cc.com member, Panavia (aka Steve) for help. He came right over with a handful of tools and had the manifold off in minutes. Then, even though it was late afternoon on Valentine's Day, he stayed and removed all the old gasket material, cleaned all the surfaces, laid in the new gaskets, aligned the manifold and bolted it down. I hope the rest of you are lucky enough to have a Panavia in your clubs. :) Thanks, Steve! |
