Helping a fellow Cobra owner

The question is, if you lived close enough, and another cobra owner (who's make you may or may not also have) needed some assistance, would you lend a hand without asking for anything in return?

Xybram 01-22-2009 06:23 PM

Why Bill do you need help? :D

My answer is absolutely. It wouldn't have to be a cobra just any cool car. But hey I'm a car guy.

Of course, do you think I have a Vette?

marcalan 01-22-2009 06:42 PM

Of course I would help out. Besides, it may be me that needs the help next time.

It would be good to initiate some sort of network for folks to use if necessary. Sort of a Pay it Forward:)

Cobra Help

Yes I would help a fellow Cobra owner.

This questions sound like a bit of a setup. What "assistance" are we talking about? Bailing him out of jail for possession of child porn? I don't think I would help him.

Helping change out a clutch? Heck yes.

Helping defend his business from a lawsuit? Umm, that may depend on whether he started his business by soliciting the entire database of a competitor to get his start.

Picking up his stranded Cobra with my truck and trailer? Without a doubt.

Finding a hitman to whack his step mother? Ahhh, is she hot?

I've found most Cobra owners are just car guys. We get along whatever the brand.

mrmustang 01-22-2009 08:10 PM

Automotive related assistance, an extra hand, a cup of coffee, yours expertise on working on a particular area of the car, moving, etc.

Bill S.

PS: This is a serious thread I would prefer serious responses.

Yes I would help
A few years ago I broke down in MG, 150 miles from home.
MG club has a small info booklet and within 20 min had tow truck, info on nearest garage
problem diagnosed and 3 offers of support. was great

what purpose exactly does this poll serve? are you trying to identify all the assholes? and if you are , what makes you think they will admit it.

Juggernaut 01-22-2009 08:19 PM

Yep, sure would.

Been there, done that!:)

And I'll do it again.

I have to agree. I can't possibly imagine this question being serious. I've had a Cobra for 8 years and everyone I've met would give you the shirt of their back to wipe your hands on while your fixing your car on the side of the road. Without a doubt the best bunch of people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. One of the reasons Lorrie and I love our Cobra so much.

Has your experience been different?

I have helped any that asked about Cobra/Hot Rod related problems in my immediate area and never asked for so much as a beer.

I have been following your posts for years and you seem to be a very considerate person, what set this post off?

I pretty much help anyone on the side of the road, an extra set of hands needed, when there is a call for help and sometimes just to offer to hang out, I Love must things mechanical though I'm far from a good mechanic. I do well as a go-fur though. I'd go anytime I can...

vanoochka 01-22-2009 09:04 PM

I have in the past, and would again in the future. And, more than once, I have been offered unsolicited help from other BAAC members who were more than willing to burn a weekend day when I needed it.

63mercury 01-22-2009 09:26 PM

YES YES YES, car people are the most unassuming, helpful, friendly people in the WORLD. The only reason to say no is if I were on the way to the graveyard in a box.

Got the Bug 01-22-2009 09:33 PM

Who is the loser who voted "no"? Hey Jamo - find that guy and bounce him!

I would help in a minute, but I might create more problems than solve them.

lineslinger 01-22-2009 09:52 PM

Where are you going with this Bill?
