Default "The Spinning Cobra Air CleANER" No more!

For years I like most builders have put up with the oblong Cobra Air Cleaner turning/twisting under load, chipping the hood paint, and haveing to straighten up everytime I lift the hood, well not any more!

A "cheap" and inexspensive absolute fix that works and if seen at all looks good. How many custom changes can a builder brag about both those claims?

This is a link to the post of "cpteddies and DV's build." I hope it goes directly to the page but if not it's on page 13/14 (?) of all the posts.

That other guy named Ed and DVs CRII build

Hope this helps others with the same problem!

DV

Hey Ed,

Hope you're not still freezing your spheroids off

Here's the fix that I put in to stop the spinning:

http://www.firstcoastcobraclub.com/v....php?f=8&t=371

Note that nothing can fall into the engine if the roll pins fit the carb tightly.

It has worked for 20K miles plus!

Just another two cents,

Tom

Tom,
First day above freezing since first week of January!
Nice... ! Did you see where I went back to cpteddies and changed the flange nuts to regulat nuts and wired them in like the spinners?

For those that want to solve this problem AND add additional hood clearance, you may want to go this route.

I took a length of rubber vacuum line and slit it lengthwise then used rubber cement to attach it to the air cleaner base circular edge where it meets the carb. Works great.

I find this method keeps the air cleaner from twisting too...

DV,

I hope some of your solid water goes away with that huge temp rise

We even had some freezing here, but it seems to have gone away now - I'll be driving the Cobra tomorrow to a show.

Undy,

I do like your method!

Tom

Default They're not supposed to spin, huh.

Gee, here I thought they were supposed to spin. I guess I better stop lubricating mine with WD-40.
