Nothing fancy here. Just some Duplicolor pick up bed liner. Got it on sale at Pep Boys. Easy to apply, durable, quiet, things don't slide around, and easy to clean. Not real pretty, though. Just functional and easy. |

Here's mine, wanted to keep it simple. A roll of inexpensive carpet from Wal Mart, fire extinguisher & the battery.

trunk carpet
I bought my last carpet from Lowes. They sell several colors of carpet for boats. I bought dark charcoal for my trunk. I used the spray glue and apply it to the trunk area so I can slide my carpet around for a better fit. If you apply the glue to both and let it tack up, you can not slide it. Cut and trial fit before applying the glue. If you can cut the bottom and sides out of one piece it will look better, I think. You can start on one side and then spray the glue as you stick the carpet down. If you cut it short or have a bare spot you can cut a piece to fit and glue it in. In the trunk it's hard for someone to see your mistakes.:LOL:
Have fun, it's easy and the material will cost about $20. Dwight |
My gas tank is in the trunk...here it is. Will be taking the gas cap off the fender shortly.

I built the tank to fit in this space....sorry, should have posted this pic with the previous post.

Simple, carpeted...
... and an extra fire extinguisher mounted to the roll bar.

http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...um/Trunk_3.jpg The upper panel (which has been polished since this picture was taken) is removable to gain access to the battery and EFI system-related electonics: http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...um/Trunk_2.jpg The trunk lid (and hood) on my car uses the aluminization process done by Metal-Morphous (Ron Randall). Ron carried the stripes through in the aluminum pattern. Here's a picture of the hood that shows this better - inside of the trunk lid is the same: http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...der_Hood_2.JPG I am working on a piece of carpet (black) which will cover just the lowest flat area in the trunk and will have a Cobra Logo embroidered on it. - Fred |
Some builds don't count...
Fred's build doesn't count. The billet-Kirkham doesn't count either. :LOL::LOL::LOL:

Why not just leave the gas gap on the fender for looks? You guys have some nice trunks (that sounds weird :eek:). |
Doug,
No good answer, just thought it might look good without it....but, several people have asked the same question and have suggested the gas cap should stay in the fender. Maybe I should sit still for a minute and think about this some more. Any other opinions would be appreciated. |

Just one more idea for custominzing a cobra trunk. We had the custom mat shown below made for ERA #753. It protects the polished aluminum panel at the bottom of the trunk.
