Is Hurricane Motorports still in business?

I've tried emailing them and calling, but no answer.

Don't know. Their web site is still up and working from the link on this page. I don't see any dates on it that it may have been changed lately. And the contact us phone numbers still seem to be the same.

I don't know either. It's kind of frustrating for us car owners too. I get asked a lot what Hurricanes status is and no one seems to know.
Maybe one of the other car owners knows more and will chime in.

Larry,

Did they ever have a Forum on their site where owners could post and talk about the cars like Factory Five and others do? I couldn't find one when I used the link from here to go there.

Ron

Hey Ron
The owners forum is still up and running. It has a public area as well that seems to still be running. I'm always signed in as an owner but try this link and see if it works for you.

:)

Larry,

Thanks, The link worked great. I must have just missed it on the web site when I went there to look. I used the one that is listed to the left of this Forum and it may not have that on it. It would seem if everything is still active in the Forum, that you guys could get some one to answer some of your questions.

Ok, I just went and looked again and there is an Owners Forum listed on it. I just missed it the first time.

Ron :)

Carlos,

I recommend expanding your search a bit, just to see what your money will buy, that is in the meantime until Ray White returns your call/email.

The Hurricane website looks great indeed... "looks great."

At the same pricepoint, Lonestar has a great product and a great website.
B&B also has a great product at nearly the same price point, just not as glossy on the web. Then there are also the many completed replicas already titled, licensed, and sorted out.

fastraxsg 02-22-2009 08:32 PM

lots of if's, depends on what your idea of "still in business" means....lot of frustration from folks who had unfinished dealings with them re. parts and such...

elmariachi 02-22-2009 08:51 PM

I tried calling Friday just to see if they answered and the phone was disconnected again.

My suggestion is to find another provider. From what I have observed watching this company story unfold on different forums is that the new owners have not communicated much with the public nor the owners they inherited. I truly hope they get their affairs in order and continue the Hurricane legacy but I wouldn't be surprised if the business closed.

Good advice Khan. Unfortunately, Hurricane Motorsports is dead. The people that bought the company last year had great intentions but never followed through on any of them. The worst part is the total lack of regard for current owners. It is a great car and I'm glad I got one before they went T-U.

I don't doubt you. I just wish they would confirm the closure. It's a great car and I hope someone takes on the business to carry it forward.

We should have put our money together and bought it ourselves. It could have been an owner/owned company.
Oh well.

Why on earth would anybody buy a company just to let it go out of business?:confused::confused:

jwd 02-23-2009 02:15 PM

I'm guessing it was a combination of lack of research and the state of the economy.

Very cool Paul! I'm glad to see you start that site. I was wondering when someone would branch out. I always wondered how things were on the dark side. %/ I wish they had been a little more open with the "dark side" forum and not just a members only type of deal. It would have been nice to see the inner workings and quirks of the kits like the FFR site. The Hurricane is a really nice kit. I was really digging the street car version. I do hope some how they can get things started again someday. Best of luck with the new digs. ;)

Joe Wicked 02-23-2009 03:57 PM

I don't know all the inner workings but I still feel that Chris White lied to me. I asked some very specific questions about Customer Service and what he told me is exactly opposite to what they did. Now either he had plans to do certain things, and was overruled, or he directly lied. Either way, promises were made by the representative of the company that were not upheld. In response to questions about it, they quit answering calls and emails.

Bill Bess 02-25-2009 06:02 AM

I agree with Jim, ....lack of experience, poor research, poor business skills and the economy going south, were most likely the causes of their demise.

We can give them one thing...good intentions in the beginning, but the air went out of their balloon when the going got tough.

Hopefully, they will, or somebody will put, a very fine replica kit back into production in the future.

Maybe they can get some Stimulus money? The Peoples Cobra, ObamaHurricaneCobra, The PelosiPistolCobra, or the GreenHurricaneCobra.

Relax, be happy, Bill

392cobra 02-25-2009 07:03 AM

Just my opinion but their first major (possible fatal) phuck up was not letting Jay Nordstrom run the company.
