Just tell her it will keep you off the street. It's not drugs, gambling, or another woman. Well, it's kind of another woman, but I wouldn't tell her that.
Also, tell her that there's too many great deals to pass up right now...appeal to her shopping instinct.

I told mine that it was my dream to always own one.
Now she's asking me how many other "dreams" do I have, since I'm now trying to persuade her that I need to buy a GT40.
You take the approach that it doesn't cost much more than a CSX, SPF, BDR, FFR or ERA.
BTW, why do all the Cobra replica manufactuers have three letter initials?

I had a customer who told his wife that he could chase these curves pointing to the car, or he could chase other curves...
His wife never mentioned the car again.

I like this strategy. In a few years I might try to tell her that her new car is a GT40 (or Ford GT) but that she can drive the Cobra when she wants.

I haven't told her yet. She thinks we lost the money in the stock market.

for years and when I finally got lucky with my chance to get mine she was
all for it. Lucky me!

This is my first Club Cobra post. I couldn't resist adding my two cents. I had to marry into the family to get mine and even then it's taken 13 years. Dave K is my brother-in-law. I was on the first trip with him to Poland scouting out the factory some 13 years ago or so. So in a way I've been sooo close but still sooo far away from having one. Fortunately mine's on the rotisserie at the shop even as we speak. My wife actually wants me to get the dang thing so I can "get over it" and return to some level of normal behavior. I'm completely disfunctional fantasizing about it constantly. I'll post some photo's when it's out terrorizing, I mean, running and driving.

Actually that's pretty much what I did. When I went to Barrett Jackson I had scoped out a 65 K-code Mustang 'ver that was owned by Ricky Nelsons twin sons (Gunnar and Matthew). I stopped at $57K; it went for $68K but it had a 4-speed and co-pilot didn't want to drive a manual any more.
Second choice was a truly wonderful GT350 that was a "survivor". It went for $200K (I stopped at less than half that).
In the middle were two GT500s that went for only $10K over what I stopped at (but you never know) and one really sweet T-bird (with the dual quads).
Next was the Cobra. I stopped at $100. Next was $110. Bidder's asst. asked me to stand by as he sensed something was wrong (I think it was a false bid, not that someone backed down). It went back and the bidder guy asked if I wanted to reinforce mine. I won.

Man, talk about having leverage over your car builders. Excellent. I think you should be getting the complimentary upgrade to the full billet Kirkham. Not to mention having a side-oiler thrown in on the deal. On the other hand, I'm sure there's a voice in the back of the brothers' heads saying " never do business with family."

I actually designed the billet car. And, it WOULD be an upgrade. But, I can't wait as long as it would take to make another. I'm practically mental as it is waiting for mine. I'm so desperate I keep telling Dave to let me have the car now and I'll be content coasting it down the street with no motor in near freezing temperatures just for the thrill of looking over the wood-rimmed wheel to those curvaceous polished fenders. I'm tired of peering out the windsheild of my tired 98 Honda Civic!!!
And the big block would be nice. Right now I'm planning on sticking 13 stout rubber bands under the hood along with 3 well fed rats on a wheel for extra kick...

Actually let me quantify that last post a bit. I did design the billet car - and I had help. It was a group effort.
