Best $20 I ever spent
My 6-year old son is not into my Cobra, but he IS motivated by money. I had offered him $20 to ride in my Cobra with me well over a month ago, and he finally took me up on it.
I got him some ear protection, stuffed him into a fluffy warm jacket, and it was off to Peet's (our usual) for coffee and danishes (I get the coffee, he gets the danish). He LOVED it! :D From the Scotts Valley Peet's, we went toward Felton and then back around to Scotts Valley via Whispering Pines. Nice day for a drive. Some of you may recall that Cameron has been undergoing chemotherapy for Leukemia. It's been a tough year, with MANY extended hospital stays and some pretty frightening moments. However, Cameron is now in remission, and he's even had his arterial port removed from his chest (alas, no more intense chemotherapy, just the "light stuff"). His hair is starting to come back (though I will continue shaving my head...), and being able to convince him to ride in the Cobra was just icing on the cake. It was a thrill, after 3 years of effort, to see my Cobra outside the context of the garage and on the road, and be able to share a ride with my son. Cheers, DD :3DSMILE::3DSMILE::3DSMILE::3DSMILE: |
:)
Doug, That is great news and I wish both of you all the best. Now things will just continue to be better and better and he may want to drive the Cobra soon. Ron :) |
Doug,
Great to hear that Cameron is doing better! Nice clear and crisp morning to get out for a run through the mountains. I'm sure Cameron was a happy camper once he had his earplugs in and you two were grinning ear to ear rolling down the road. :D Cameron's hooked now. :D |
AWESOME!!! The relationship you have with you son rocks by the sound of it:) My cobra isn't fully roadworthy yet and already my 16 year old asked me to take him on a route 66 adventure when he finishes school this year - YAHOOOO!!

Doug,
Got your car running AND a long enthusiastic drive in the Cobra with Cameron, now that is cool! Your patience and persistence is paying off ... the first in no doubt many, many drives to come. :D Way to go Doug! Regards, - Tim |
Great news Doug, best to you and your boy!
You're on the right track-you've got an ERA. |
I'll take a ride if you pay me 20$
 |
That is fantastic! I'll bet you were grinning from ear to ear!

I'm 2nd in line with KobraBytes...Seriously though it is great to hear your Son is doing better. I know for me it is the ultimate thrill when my kids want to ride with me in the Cobra. It seems like such a selfish hobby for the family man and when you can share the experience with those close to you...well it just doesn't feel selfish. I taught my son to drive a stick in my Cobra. I hope you get the same opportunity.

The $20 offer was only good for my son, but I'll reconsider for 28-36 year old females, about 5-9, slender, busty, and wearing tight jeans and a revealing blouse over black lace lingerie---so, if you fit that bill, give me a call. Otherwise, the $20 stays in my pocket...

DD...excellent. :)

Doug that's way cool! It's always great when your kids decide to hang with you; even if it is profit motivated! I started shaving my head when my Mom started loosing her hair to chemo as well and it looks like I'm just gonna stay bald.

Wanted to take my Cobra out for a test run tonight, and talked my son into joining me on a quick run down to the store. On the way home, HE convinced ME to go for a "little drive".
It didn't even cost me $20! He really enjoyed riding around, open top, blue evening skys with distant clouds all around. It was great to share it with him. DD |

Once the clouds and rain cleared out today, it really warmed up...perfect for a little drive. |
Hey, Doug, we need to meet for Cobras & coffee. How's your weekend look?
DD |
Doug,
Just when the weather starts to perk up, I'm tied up for the weekend. I'll touch base with you mid-week next week. Still not sure what time people meet at Starbucks on 41st Ave for coffee. I think you're pretty well sorted out for a run to Baji's or Alice's for breakfast sometime soon. :3DSMILE: |
Awesome:3DSMILE::3DSMILE:!!
|
Excellent.
:D :D |
Just think in a few years you and your son can build a Cobra just like yours and he can pay you $20 for going for a ride with him. The scariest place to be in a Cobra is in the passenger seat.
Great news Doug and I pray for your sons continued recovery! Clois |
