Here are a few photos of a Blue Exact 427 (new kid carbon car) taken at the San Marcos photos shoot.
http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...Cobras-2-r.jpg Another photos with the owner, Rosanne, and the P-39. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...s/Cobras-r.jpg Enjoy, Richard |
Wow!! That is absolutely stunning! Can you share some driving and overall impressions of the car? The NKOTB carbon car is one very interesting new player in the replica industry. Congrats on a really beautiful Cobra.

Driving impressions of the Exact 427 Carbon Cars.
Driving impressions of the Exact 427 Carbon Cars.
Rosanne has put around 2500 miles on this car since May. It has been trouble free and is extremely reliable. The car is such a pleasure to drive. Anytime she is nice enough to let me drive it I jump at the opportunity. I have driven it a couple of hundred of those miles and it is really impressive. Being as light as it is you can imagine it is very quick. At all speeds is appears to be very stable and predictable. I have had it up to a steady 120 and except for the wind it if feel the same as 70. The steering is quick and responsive. You can let go of the wheel and it tracks perfectly straight. Seems stiff enough in the corners, the tires don't hit the fenders during hard cornering. The braking is by Wilwood and will stop easily in a straight line. The fit and finish it excellent, not to mention Roger’s attention to detail that keeps it so close to an original car you have to look twice. At the San Marcos meet it received many compliments on its originality. Here are a few of the specs. The 351W engine from John York (York Sports cars) and it dyno'd in at 302 hp @ 5500rpm and the torque was 321@ 3700 rpm 300 lb springs on all 4 corners. Weight distribution is 50% rear and 50% front. Total weight came in at 1965 lbs. including 190 lbs added for driver and fuel! Currently it is sitting on Yokohama Avids 245-60 x 15 front and 275-60x15 rear. Rosanne picked up the silent auction deal for 3 hours of instruction and track time at Harris Hills Road. Since my Carbon Car will be for track use as well as road use I am looking forward to hearing how it well it goes on the track. Later, Richard |
Is there a company website for the cars?
I looked at "DoubleUgly"'s carbon car at our Christmas get together last year and couldn't leave it alone. It was really impressive. Larry |
A very nice car in search of an engine. I hope York did not charge more than a Target engine price for that output.

Fabulous car! :p
Love the color........ |

They were exactly the price he quoted. A very great guy to deal with. I don't have the numbers with me but I believe my engine (365 hp at 5,500 rpm 398 ft lbs torque at 4,400 rpm) T5 and Ford king cobra clutch was around $7500. Rosanne's set up was around $6200. When it came time to start the blue car we sprayed a bit of starting fluid in it, stepped on the gas once to set the choke and it roared to life and had been running ever since. I suggest to anyone looking for an engine not to skip by his ad. He was on target with the price and delivery. http://yorksportscars.com/engines.htm Later, Richard |

To answer your web question I don't think there is an active site yet. I am sure when it is online you will see it on Club Cobra. Richard |

Richard, Perhaps I misunderstood. Are your quoted prices inclusive of engine, trans and clutch? I took it as just the complete engine price only. If so I apologize. My original point should have been that these days a custom built engine that does not produce at least one HP per cubic inch is not a good value-especially in a well spec'd and executed car like this. Without looking too hard, here's an example from FRPP: http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...KeyField=10755 A stroked 351 (392) aluminum heads 430HP / 450TQ needing only a carb, wires, fuel pump and coil for $6995 at MSRP. That's 65 MORE HP than the more powerful build for nearly the same expense. Good value and not too overpowering for such a light car. Here's a 351/400 complete and "hot run and tested" engine, complete to the air cleaner, from the Engine Factory for an MSRP of $7995: http://www.enginefactory.com/Ford_351W_400Carb.htm This is 98HP more than the lesser powered 351. Both the above are pump gas engines. I am not affiliated with any engine builders. I believe you had a good experience with this engine builder. I feel that a 351 that only produces 302HP is not a good value even at remanufacturer prices. (Which these do not appear to be.) I just think that fine car could have gotten more engine for very nearly the same expense. |
Good to see Roger's work is finally hitting the streets. I believe I saw this car as it went together. Not a good time to launch a toy product, but when things return to normal I hope Roger can make this work. It is very impressive in person.
As for the engines, even if he through in the transmission/clutch/etc. that is simply too much to pay for what you got, and I buy quite a few engines ;) UNLESS you are reporting RWHP and then perhaps it is fair? |

The price was for a turnkey drive train package not just the engine. It was run in and dyno tested before shipping. I looked at quite a few combinations from many builders much like what you pointed out and felt many of them were too proud of their work. It doesn't leak, smoke or miss, runs all the time, uses regular gas and the car is really quick! The money saved went a long way toward SS headers, and undercar exhaust. The 302 HP engine was intentional detuned. It has stock cast iron heads that keep the HP down. As this was Rosanne's first true high performance car. With all the fun footage on you tube it seemed to be the prudent thing to do. It is always easy to add some quick HP later with a head upgrade. The Carbon cars are made for the 427 so a larger engine can be installed at any time. Later, Richard |

Richard,
Thanks for clarifying and sorry I misunderstood. Tbut, Your experience is painful but very valuable advice. To be clear, I was in no way endorsing one company over another, just providing examples of common power levels available today and their costs. |
Chas,
No problem. Just a friendly heads up so nobody has to go through the same experience. Can someone provide more info on this car? Is this a complete kit offered or just the body? Looks REAL nice. |

The cockpit and dash layout http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...DSC_3576_r.jpg An exterior view. I think the cars look great without the sidepipes. The body has all sorts of subtle shapes that get covered. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...DSC_3578-r.jpg Here it is up on the lift. You can see how we mounted the transmission cooler in the spot for the dif cooler. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...tty-bottom.jpg Well I have to get back to work for a while. Hope yall enjoyt the photos. Later, Richard |

Where can I find pricing, options, etc.?
|
How many cars a year can Roger build? How long does it take to build one?
1,965 lbs is very light indeed. Very nice! Enjoy! |
I'm in love!
This product is absolutely one of - if not the - best looking Cobra replicas out there. The proportions, stance, lines, ride height and the overall look is bang on. Roger's attention to those aesthetic details has resulted in a visually stunning and authentic looking replica. Kudos. Talk about visual impact with just the perfect shape alone and no fancy paint job, shiny wheels, or other eye-catching add ons! I can't say enough about how nice this car is.

Yes, Rosanne does have a beautiful and reliable carbon Cobra. She sent me pictures of the construction and finished results. I did an appraisal for her when she got it registered and on the road. John's (Double Ugly) carbon Cobra in the Phoenix area was also outstanding. 1,965 lbs. for a 1965 car, nice!
