??? about the tonnue cover fasteners
Hello all,
I have been giving this some thought, which way does the lift a dot go on the faberic for the tonnue cover.
Does the pins face up or toward the body.
I am thinking if the pins face toward the body will it scratch the paint when removing the cover

The pin screws into the body and the dot is in the cover. The only thing that I do not like about the pin being in the body is that it is there sticking up all of the time.
When I sold my top I removed the pins and plan on replacing them with something similar to the item in the link below.

Do not use the "lift adot"s. Use Tennex fasteners. They have a positive actuation and do not require any force on or off.

I guess the question needs to be refined...which way makes sense or which way is original and correct.
Here are pics of an original tonneau cover that is currently for sale...it is as they were, delivered by AC with the car. This one went on a Comp car, so the fuel filler hole was probably cut out at SAI

Ron,
I guess you picture shows the same way mine is installed. However I feel that the pressure pins might scratch the body if not careful

I guess that shows that I did not really understand the question. I thought you were talking about the pins and the recepticals. Sorry.

priobe,
On my top and t-cover the "lift the dot" wording on the fasteners face away
from the center of the cockpit. I have never had them unsnap while driving
or scratch the paint.

Lift a dots were on the original, tennex were on most all BA cars; MKIVs, V's. Much better system, less stress on posts etc. Tennex use same posts I believe...just the fastener part is different.
