Suggestions for transporting newly painted body

Hello all,

My cobra's fiberglass body is off the chassis and at the painters. It will be done soon and I'm trying to figure out the best method for transporting it back to my house. I transported it to the painter using an open trailer and secured it with tow straps, but of course I'm not doing that with fresh paint

So, anyone with experience with this please chime in and let me know what you did.

I built sort of a wooden chassis on wheels for my body, and got it back and forth to the painter on a this, on a flatbed. Paint shop was only a few miles from my home.

If the doors and trunk are mounted be sure they are secure. My body came back on a rolling jig the mfg. supplied. The trunk lid was mounted but not latched. Everything was beautiful at the paint shop but when it got to my place thee was a piece of the trunk broken off.

Check the FF site. those guys use a plywood jig to transport thier bodies. The often list them for sale when they are done with them.

I took the chassis with me to pick up the body. We simply set it on the chassis and put the bumperette rods thru the body (wrapped towels around them) and bolted it on.

When I got home I took the time to re-set the body and screw and bolt as needed to the frame. It worked great and was a simple solution to a big problem.

When I took it over to the painters to begin with I set it on sawhorses. That works well too, however you have to be very careful when you bring it home. I screwed the sawhorses to the trailer floor and then screwed the body to the sawhorses. In places that would never show of course.

BTW:
The doors, hood and truck came home inside the truck wraped in soft blankets.
