Default Time to sell the yellow midstates

Well... after much consideration it's time to sell the dream...

I've got a couple of questions for you all here.

How does one come up with a fair price for these cars, and how long is it taking for them to sell?

Chris,

Right now around this area it is hard to get much for any car. Look on Cobra Country and in the for sale here and see what others are asking for cars with similar features to yours. A lot will depend on how bad someone wants one of these cars.

My definition of much is at least half of what you have into the vehicle. A good example is the last one a guy I know sold. He had well over $100K into it and after 8 months of haggling finally got around $60K. It was a beautiful car and very well built.

Around the corner from me a guy has had a 2006 pickup with low miles and in perfect shape for sale for the past 10 months. I believe he told me he gave $52K for it and he can't even get $35K. Nothing is selling in this area at all except I am seeing several new Mustangs on the road, so the remaining Ford dealer must be selling them at MSRP or less.

Chris,

The two main sources cited here (eBay and CobraCountry) will certainly give you a good idea of what people are asking for their cars but not much on what they ultimately sell for these days. I'm sure there are times when there are big differences between those two $$$. I haven't seen much sell via the eBay process since many times the reserve price is not met and CobraCountry has many vehicles that have been there for a long while. You'll see a lot of listings with reduced prices after the seller's initial offering doesn't generate much activity. Try to find comparable listings to your car (based on same mfg., similar engines, tranny, mileage, age, etc.), post a price based on that, then be prepared to consider a good discount on top of that to get the car sold. Good luck.

Chris D.
