Default Air filter hood clearance & carb spacer

Just how much clearance is needed between the air cleaner and hood?

Engine is 5.0 block Edle heads and Vick Jr intake. Motor mounts appear to be factory rubber mounts. I put clay on top of air cleaner and closed hood. The tightest gap is 2-3/8 inches.

The engine has a MassFlow EFI system. It has the single plane Vick Jr intake designed for a carb, but it has injection bungs welded in and is a multi point EFI system. The throttle body looks like a carb and has an air cleaner like a carb.

Second question: Carb spacers increase HP, but would it increase power on this EFI set up as the intake is dry?

Anyother things to consider that I didn't ask are welcome.
