McLaren F1 is over 20 cars behind a 1989 Mazda Miata??????
Whose list is this and what are they thinking? Ha Ha Ha Oh, I just noticed the Pagani Zonda is in a similar position. I suspect the folks who were polled for this did not know what these cars are.... but they sure know what a Miata is!!! sheeeeesh |
Checker Marathon????? TAXI!!!
|
Do you have a link to the article? I can't seem to find it by searching Motor Trend's site.

The Miata a cool car??? Maybe at the gay pride parade.
|
Have to admit, the list does seem a little screwed up.
I do however like number 2 on the list. Mini's are a kick in the a$$. |
There's a few I'd leave off the list, or plug into a different spot, but overall the list is quite impressive.
|
I would guess the list is not "in order"? It may be random.
At any rate, I own TWO of the cars on the list, so I'm feeling good. If the Healey sale fall's through, make it three. |
Ernie, I hope you aren't counting the two miatas.:LOL:
My car did not even make the list........ |
Like the question above, what month issue is this in ?
Gotta have it ! |
I have 3 cars on the list and a replica of #1. Not bad...:3DSMILE:
|
I don't know about the list. I just spent Monday cruising LA in a Aston Martin DB9, that was really a cool ride. It was a Cobra with a/c and top, plenty of power and really cool looking.
I agree Cobra #1 for brute force. Hard to beat the DB9 for modern sport luxury. I give the DB9 a "10" :p |
Geez...I was looking for Sunbeam Tiger on the list...I thought for sure it would be there...
Posi... |
How can you have the coolest cars of all time and have nothing prewar? Some of the prewar Bugatti, Duesenburg, Cadillac V16, Stutz, Alfa, Miller, Hispano, Mercedes, Rolls Royce, Ford, etc. are hard to ignore on a list like this...
As for post war no C or D-type, 275 GTB, 275 NART spyder, 66 GT-350 convertible... What else is missing from the list? |

I agree...the Cobra is the Coolest Car of all time, as far as the Mazda goes I'm using a Mazda front sway bar on my cobra.
Does this make my cobra a cobradaz? Bill |
Being the September edition of Motor Trend , doubtful that the on-line version will be available until the news stand editions are sold. As a subscriber, I think I received my copy some time last week.
The article begins on Page 64 with a brief 5 sentence intro at the bottom of a full page having The 60 Coolest Cars logo. Easy to miss, as I had to go back and re-read, but a portion of the wording is: " As we kick off Motor Trend's 60th Anniversary celebration . here's a look - in random order - at 60 of the coolest. illist, chillist machines to roll earth's highway during our watch, 1949-2009 " I added the underline & italics for emphasis The numbers associated with the pictures of the cars cross reference to a brief narrative on the vehicle at the bottom of the page , and the Cobra happened to be on the first page of the article and also labeled as No. 1, top left corner with the remaining vehicles numbered in sequence, but randomly placed. One of my favorites that I had owned was a 1967 XK-E Coupe, Series 1, the last year for the covered headlights. |
Random order makes more sense.
|
MotorTrend Magazine is bankrupt, I'm surprised they had a page left to print that on...
