nice clear and sharp pics, excellent.
I don't know about those daytona type sidepipes on #97... Wish I could have been there |
Does this mean if your car is not painted Blue you can’t run on this Track?

Brent
Thanks, looks like Lynn had two cars there. Nice as 2259 was a question a couple weeks ago. Great pics! |
Great pics, buddy. It was a great day/weekend. :)

I think that #59 car is one of the most beautiful Cobra's I have ever seen.
Thanks Brent. |
I saw number 65 a blue Superformance, I think, that was going to run. I can't believe they allow "reproductions to run.

It certainly WASN'T an original. Maybe it was in the padock as "a guest" but the radiator was vertical the body fiberglass and was nestled between real racers. The concours stop in Carmel also had some (2) "re-creations."

I have owned an SPF and two accurate cobras. A Hi Tech and Exact. The rads are NOT vertical on the accurate replicas.......The dimensions may be the same but the placements aren't. Trust me, and as far as I know the originals weren't fiberglass. Have a good day.

Nice pics Brent!
Original 427's don't have verticle radiators. They tilt back towards the engine. Larry |
I remember seeing the 289 (Lynn Park's racing out of the Wild West Motorsports stable) with the Daytona type pipes in the early 90's at the Mini Nats when they were originally held at Laguna also. If my memory is right (?) it has a Gurney Weslake headed 289 with 48IDA's. Can anyone else confirm this, anyone take any engine shots??? I believe this car was the subject of a magazine article several years ago; as have many of the 289's that frequent the Monterey Historics.

Correct it's Lynn Park's car CSX2259. New motor for the Monterey Classic too.....

Love the photos. I don't agree with the vintage associations rules regarding "logbook" race cars only. Too few are left in existence, thus too many qualified builders and drivers are excluded. There should be a group of 'neo' classes for newly built vintage racers including Cobras. If there was, I'd build a racing only FIA Cobra. Glad I grew up racing stock cars, as they're not as exclusive.

Thank You
To all who replied. Lines on the car are wonderful.

Glad you made it to Laguna!
Hey Brent,
Unfortunately I did not go this year for the Historics. It was great to see you were able to make it there. Just curious, I figured you'd be on the lookout to see if there were any GT40s on the track, and if so, how about any Mark IVs, etc? |
