I know the car. Had a 600hp NOS 427 SO stroker in it. Great deal.

Hello All,

Another CSX 6000 sold at Mecum for $63,000 the same weekend, both from the same vendor. He put them into the auctions at no reserve --- STUPIDITY.

Good deals for the buyers.

Steve (PANAVIA) got his silver CSX street roller for around $40K not too long ago, so low $60K's seems right about the market for now, though still a great deal in the big scheme of things. Certainly well below cost. The market for any replica or Shelby (don't want to get in trouble with Evan) isn't good at the moment. Sal's beautiful CSX4241 is $75K firm and has not been listed as sold.

Agree. Unless you know that you've got a car that someone HAS to have, you're going to be disappointed in a no reserve auction in this market. Someone needed cash fast...or they have cash and just don't care.

That was well bought. Even if it still needed some sorting out and various tweaks here and there, it was still well bought. Just damn...

The same guy that built your engine built mine. Dwight Powell of Powell High Performance in GA. He has been building them since 1968, including for NASCAR and really knows his stuff. You got a nice car there - enjoy it!

Hmmm....they must add the commission to the sale (sold) price?

Pretty sure. I think this car was the one he finished right after mine. They were both in his shop together and I bought my engine from the same guy.

Tony, what are you driving now? Congratulations on the sale (I assume this was the black car you bought with Alan?).

In this market, Tony, consider yourself lucky.

Congrats on the purchase of your CSX6000.

Tony Ripepi 09-20-2009 10:46 AM

Hello Mtml,

DCdoug, I saw a word document about both of these cars before they went under the gavel and they were Becker cars.

Rod, Not lucky but, knowing that the market is formed by people that know the value of what they are offering and the knowledge of what the buyer will pay, the points off the curve are the Becker cars. Becker had his reasons for putting those cars up for sale with no reserve, it shows either desperation or lack of commitment to a win/win sale for both seller and buyer.

CSX 6000 congratulations for a well bought great car...Enjoy.

Mtml CSX4264 was bought from Shannon Fry in Watsonville six years ago, great car but, I am directing my efforts to a street roadster. The options are either a Kirkham, SPF or CSX with an FE, 5-speed, under car exhaust etc. etc.

This is the look I am after only in Tuxedo Black not BRG:

At least lately, there have been some great buys on a lot cars, not just limited to Cobras. While I watch the eBay auctions for Cobras and GT40s, I also watch the Porsche (various "classic" years) and the prices are down there significantly too. Part in parcel of the recession that we're in. The CSX6000 at $60,000 while a great deal, is still a market point as was PANAVIA's purchase of a CSX49xxx roller for about $40K.

I'm not sure of the current status of Power Surge's beautiful CSX, detailed to the gills, but his CSX has not sold after a few months and his price has been in the mid-to-high 70's.

I've had a few people contact me with interest, but they all seemed to be looking for a steal, so were not interested in my price, even though I feel my price is very reasonable for my particular car, even in this poor market.

But, keep in mind that all I've done to promote the car, is make a post here and on the SAAC forums. So really, the only people who know the car is for sale is people on the forums, which of course is a small percentage.

I am actually doing photoshoots of the car today, using Curt from Cobra Country's photo recommendations. Hopefully the car will be listed on Cobra Country in the next week or so, and will sell. If I don't get this car sold soon, I'm going to literally be living in it.

Both cars were advertising cars - meaning - i used the two cars for advertising my factory authorized Shelby Cobra dealership while in Pebble (during the auctions) - In the end i gave out over 500 business cards and a hundred or so Planet Cobra shirts and had the chance to speak with several dozen people about the Shelby brand. I also took orders for several CSX 6000 cars at full MSRP - The two people that ended up with the no reserve cars did very, very well.

I got phone calls from people trying to buy CSX cars at what the cars sold for, at auction, and my reply was simply "lightning does not strike twice in the same place"
