Don't discount FFR just because you want a turn key. There are companies like LEVY RACING that build turnkey FFR roadsters and coupes for customers. You pick the color, and the details you want - they build it for you - done by pros. So you CAN buy a turnkey FFR (probably a 12 week turnaround time - maybe less); You can buy Backdraft's or Superformance from dealer inventories. ERA will build you a turnkey - but that is more like a 12 month turnaround. That's what mine was. And there are a lot of good cars advertised on Cobra Country. Kirkham will also do a turnkey - a jewell. Each car is somewhat different - and that takes some time to learn but is part of the fun. Good luck.

On topic, you should sit in/drive as many of your affordable choices as possible. Once you find one (or two) that you fit best in, then buy as much Cobra as you can afford. I couldn't be more pleased with my SPF, and I bought it pre-owned and saved a lot of money (again, I bought as much Cobra as I could afford at the time). I work with Bob & Dennis in Redwood City/Reno. You can order an SPF in any offered color combo, or request any special color. The only real advantage to buying what someone has in stock, is you may get a better deal and you won't have to wait. I personally wanted a specific color when I bought mine, so I ordered it and waited. I liked the wait, as it gave me a chance to decide on an engine package and work out all of the legistics. A basic rollor goes for 42,900, but as I stated before there are incentives going on due to the economy. The rollers come with a one year warranty, bumper to bumper. If you are available, either come by the dealer or come by Club Auto Sport in San Jose Saturday to the show & shine. Craig, I have a BDR that is three years old and would highly recommend it for the money. I am running a 393 stroker with TKO 600. It rides good and performs very well on the road and track. A couple minor problems I had were taken care of by BDR immediately. I built my car for what I would have spent on just the SPF roller. It seems as if you've asked the $64,000 question. I was bit by the snake almost a year ago when my bride opened the door for "anything with four wheels" if I would sell my Harley. I looked, studied, read, discussed, rode with a local group, and searched some more until "the" car popped up totally unexpeditally and I immediatelly knew this was "my" car. My snake is a Rossa Red Backdraft with 17" knockoffs, a 351W and a 5-speed Tremac but more importantly is the incredable support Frank Dodd and the guys at Backdraft Racing in Florida have given me since I purchased the car. No matter which way you go you will need the support at some point and I can't say enough about the BDR guys. My suggestion to you from someone who's only been part of this community for 60 days, is to follow the same path "Grasshopper," read, discuss, look, ride and look some more---you'll find "your" snake then you too will find yourself standing in the garage and just staring at it before you turn in dreaming of long empty stretches of back country roads. I have looked at some used ones, but to be honest, I am very picky about my cars, the way they look with tires, paint, side pipes etc...If I'm going to spend 45-50K on a used car, I would rather spend another 10K to have it exactly the way I want it. I have change my views a little about Roush Motors as well. I have research used car prices and Roush does bring in a higher price with used cars. I'm not really looking at resale right now, we all know unless your driving a Kirkham or Shelby Cont., you will lose some money when you sell your car. Craig |

Everyone wants to get the most for their money, and wants to fell like they got the "DEAL" now is the time for deals. Right now I'm wide open and really not leaning one way or another. Another hidden cost that I missed was sales tax on the engine, trans and car that NJ wanted when I went to register it. It turned out to be quite a large figure that hurt to explain to the wife :eek:
