I had my made by Pig and it looks great with quality materials and great workmanship. It also comes with a storage bag and fits in trunk nicely.

  1. I like the clean look of not having the snaps
  2. I read mixed reviews about driving with it unzipped and the passenger side covered (some said it worked, others said it flapped and beat-up their paint. This was the main value in the original set-up in my opinion.
  3. It takes much longer to attached/unattach the snap style and I figured I'd find it a PITA over time and wouldn't use it much. This took me about 30 seconds the first time I put it on.
  4. Doesn't hurt that this is 75% cheaper than a snap style....

EDIT: I saw earlier in this thread it was suggested that some post Phillip and Kay Deal's contact info. Here it is wpdeal @ gmail.com. The space in the address is to help with spammers.

dc doug: Looks great and seems to be very clean and efficient. Do you have pictures of it folded? tin-man

Pigfarm70 08-15-2011 08:24 AM

Hey Guys !

Doug, the covers do not "fold"....they roll-up (like a newspaper) across the width axis. When rolled they will be 6-8" diameter and about 46-48" in legth. They will fit diagonally in the trunk of most Roadsters. I have only had one or two that had trouble with this due to trunk area modifications, but both wound-up being sorted out and are now happy customers. :) The reason they need to be rolled is that there are reinforcements sewn into the cover to prevent collapse/water sag. The reinforcements span the cockpit from the dash to just behind the rear cockpit wall.

Bill, The price range can vary quite a bit depending on what you want and if you have highback or lowback seats....but to answer your questions....I'd say the range is ~ $200 to $400.

Let me know if you have any further questions !

Hey PDUB,

I am sure making a cover for a 289 car would not be a problem.

My wife & I (PiggyBack Covers) make covers in colors with/without matching stripes. Here are pics of a few we have made. PiggyBack Covers pictures by JenJoePhotobucket - Photobucket.

If you prefer a Black cover, these can be purchased from Phillip & Kay Deal. You can reach them at "wpdeal@gmail.com".

Let us know if you have further interest !

Have a great weekend.

Just give me a call to discuss, will be no problem. Price will depend on what exactly you want for colors, stripes, etc and also if you have high or low seats.

Looks like an easy $300 to walk away with while someone is away, in the store or visiting...

No way to lock it down?

What's the inner layer made of? Some kind of felt-type material? Something that won't scratch the paint if you sit/rest/lean on it?

Mariah 08-17-2011 06:29 AM

All good questions.

I remember only one customer who planned to lock his cover to the car. No feedback on any that were stolen.

The paint side of the vinyl is a fuzzy/soft/felt texture for paint protection. Have had no complaints about effect on paint. Of course the covers are not designed to be towed.

And then the question about keeping the cockpit dry. That leads to the discussion of water that gets into the Wheel Well Valleys that can run under the cover and down behind the seats. Usually a minor issue depending upon the length and strength of the rain storm.

PDUB - We finally completed a 289-style cover for a customer in the UK recently, here are some pics for your review.

This color matches his interior....

Does anybody out there know if these covers are still available and how I can contact them? Thanks!

Al G 06-27-2013 10:40 AM

I got mine about a year ago. Their email then was wpdeal@gmail.com.

Highly recommend their cover.

+1 on this cover.

John St found this post and sent an email. Anyone know if they are still doing this? I'll update if I get a reply.

They were a year or so ago - I got a silver one for my Kirkham and it is excellent
and worth every penny. It takes awhile for it to be made but is very convenient for when you stop at a restaurant or whatever: keeps the interior out of the sun and nobody messes with it. Rolls up into a provided cover and fits in my trunk easily. You won't be disappointed.
