CSX 6021 being sold at Barrett-Jackson in Vegas

I just opened up my Hemmings Muscle Machines and saw an ad for CSX 6021 being sold without reserve at Barrett-Jackson in Vegas this month. It caught my attention because I own 6022.

It will be interesting to see what it goes for. Hopefully more than the price of the last two that Stephen Becker sold, although I know that he does it mostly for marketing and he feels no-reserve auctions get more buzz.

Here's the link:

I know there are a couple people on this forum looking for cars. If this goes anywhere close to the $60k+ of the last two, then its a heck of a deal.

...that's a nice looking car.

From the description:

"The... body is strikingly finished in the LeMans-winning Shelby unique color, Guardsman Blue, a particularly rare color....."

That drew a chuckle... ;)

Zero to 60 in under 3 seconds. That's fast. Don't try that at home. Hmmmm.

Is the windshield angle the same on the 4000/6000 series cars as the originals?

That would seem to be on the optimistic side without slicks and maybe wheelie bars.....and even then not sure.

I believe this is another Steve Becker car. He does a good job.

I didn't buy one of his last January in Scottsdale that sold for $85K.

This car sold tonight for $117k - nice to see the market a bit better than the last few auctions.

The announcer did mention that one of the oil pan bolts was broken.;)

Just returned home from B-J. My jaw dropped when it passed the $110k mark. Happy but surprised.

Easy 20 min fix that one....

I thought the announcer at BJ was a bit "glib" when he denounced other replicas as sort of quick and dirty $40,000. kits, but the Shelby as some fantastic machine with much better quality in the build. I took exception to the comment, but I guess the continuation cars do have the "real Shelby name" and therefore are naturally a better machine.
Naner Naner!

There was some fun poked in my house when that was said. It was almost like having Evan sitting in my living room.

$128,700 with 10% buyers commission? Sal's at $75,000? What am I missing? Is blue worth more? Sideoiler versus 390? $53,700 can buy a lot of paint and an engine. The last couple of CSX's were in the 60K's.

I guess Evan is right. Real Shelbys get real premiums.

While prices paid over the recent year for Continuation series vary, depending on car, auction, sellers motivation and buyers present and motivation this validates the "inherent value" in the fact that this was a "Shelby" and a "genuine Cobra" (and not a "replica" of one) and clearly perceived as such by buyers. This was even a fiberglass car.

You guys can flame on but the proof of what I've been saying is in the pudding.

Flame on.

I'm still reeling from the "down and dirty kit car" remark....:(

So then what you are saying also goes to the two FFR "donor style builds" that went for $42,000 and $44,550 respectively. While logic dictates it is so do to the sale prices listed (funny how several of these cars end up back in the hands of their original sellers a week or two down the road), further review of just how a BJ auction is orchestrated, right down to the background sounds, music piped in, lighting, food/drink offered, etc shows that not all is as it seems. The fine folks at BJ have their auctions honed and tuned as if a Stratovarius violin. From the time a registered bidder walks through the door, BJ knows exactly what he has looked at, what he has eaten/drank, and in some cases his/her each and every footstep in and out of the door. Again they have it down to an art, and prices realized while at their auction are not to be considered "real world" values once that particular vehicles leaves the auction grounds. I say the above with confidence, not only as an outsider looking in this year, but someone who has participated in these auctions (both as a buyer and a seller) for quite some time. I'll leave the rest of the real vs not argument to the usual suspects as that is not what my post is about.

did anyone get the f5 numbers of the 2 cars,(owner buybacks?) funny how donor builds are barely bring $25K on the open market.

Let it go, Patrick. It was probably especially directed to the "dirty kit cars" with two roll bars. :p:LOL:

You're not talking about the cars with two roll bars that are covered with the protective insulation designed to prevent pipes from freezing?:3DSMILE:

Well then that excludes me. I'll have you know that my roll bar padding is the Kirkey $2 stuff that's fatter on one side than the other. Perfect for bending around the hoop.;) The pipe freezing stuff it way too expensive and not nearly as soft when you're tapping your noggin against it. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/KIR-99001/
