Austin-Healey Speed Record Attempt
"Now known as the ‘Healey Endurance’ car, the car recently attempted the International and National speed record up to 1000 Km (International Group 2, Class 8 non-supercharged) on November 15th, 2009, successfully completing 308 laps around the Millbrook Proving Grounds at a record-breaking average speed of 148.22 mph. The record is currently subject to FIA & MSA homologation as to whether the six International and nine National records under consideration will be confirmed."

There were actually two Healey speed events going on this year. The other took place at Bonneville and featured a recreation of the supercharged Healey Streamliner that Donald Healey drove into the 200 Club.
http://i48.tinypic.com/o9hlqb.jpg The Streamliner and a second Endurance Car were built by Steve Pike in Australia. You can see some more pictures here: http://www.ntahc.org/pastevents/2009...ler/Miller.htm |
Great cars! Love the green! THere's an old dude around here that putts around in his old beat up Austin-Healey. When I first saw him I thought maybe he was restoring it. That was about 8 yrs ago. Still looks the same. Still see him putting around every few weeks.

Great pics Rick! Excellent review of the Bonneville event and history of the cars.

Why is it none of those Healey's are slinging oil every where? Every one I ever owned could supplement a refinery.;)
