Austin-Healey Speed Record Attempt
"Now known as the ‘Healey Endurance’ car, the car recently attempted the International and National speed record up to 1000 Km (International Group 2, Class 8 non-supercharged) on November 15th, 2009, successfully completing 308 laps around the Millbrook Proving Grounds at a record-breaking average speed of 148.22 mph. The record is currently subject to FIA & MSA homologation as to whether the six International and nine National records under consideration will be confirmed."

148mph out of an old three main brg 4cyl, makes a lot of V8's look pretty ordinary.

There were actually two Healey speed events going on this year. The other took place at Bonneville and featured a recreation of the supercharged Healey Streamliner that Donald Healey drove into the 200 Club.
The Streamliner and a second Endurance Car were built by Steve Pike in Australia. You can see some more pictures here:

Great cars! Love the green! THere's an old dude around here that putts around in his old beat up Austin-Healey. When I first saw him I thought maybe he was restoring it. That was about 8 yrs ago. Still looks the same. Still see him putting around every few weeks.

Why is it none of those Healey's are slinging oil every where? Every one I ever owned could supplement a refinery.

I'm building one now:

I regularly visit some of the Cobra sites to pick up tips on putting a SBF into an old Brit sportscar.
