Talking FFR Spec Racer

Well I went to FFR yesterday to buy a new body and ended up buying a Spec Racer frame. Couldn't resist. Waved that pretty powder coated deal under my nose and I fell in love.

Gonna fix the crunched body and slap that baby on this branny new chassis, with new damn suspension stuff.

My wife thinks I have totally lost it. Well I have. Ah-eeeeeee!

Talking McFez

Hi Don,

The chassis has twice the stiffnes of the standard chassis. It has a real robust roll cage integral with the frame and side impact bars. In fact it meet SCCA specs. Don't know how much the net difference is between stock and spec. I will find out.
all the suspension goodies fit right on. I ordered with the IRS mount so I can transfer all my stuff right over to it.

Got a question for you. ERA uses a widget that looks like two bolts welded together at the heads for mounting/adjusting rear suspension rod ends and arms. Are these custom items or commercially available?

Default Dear Mr. Hanky......

....my friend, you sir are out of yer mind! Jes like me!!!!

You ain't gonna be happy till you have the ultimate Track Turd, just like Cranky and FEZ!

Good Luck, what is the ETA on completion? In time for the Glen in May?

I'm about 2 weeks away from concentrating my efforts on my 289.

In the meantime, as Cranky would say....

MUST PAINT THE HOUSE......MUST PAINT THE HOUSE.

See you at Elkhart Lake. Don't bring the TnTs, we need Cranky in one piece.

Talking Re: Track Turd II

Hey McHank,

How about some associated costs for the "new" spec racer chassis...Did they make you buy the whole "kit and kaboodle", or did they just sell you the bare frame (or with associated tin work)?????? Inquiring McMinds want to know....

Sincerely,

McMrMustang

Default ffr

the guys are known at ffr for sportin certain deals with certain guys, but if you're a new comer they insist on packages and no separate components, that away it helps keep it all like NASCAR and unfair for the poorer blokes....

Default Minds?

Sorry McBill. I'm having one of those weeks.

Bought the chassis with the aluminum and IRS mount as a package. Was a very competitive price, but I never discuss those kinds of details.

Pick it up this Saturday.

McHank,
Probably going to be a real competitive track car too.
Looks like the McCrankymobile is going to get knocked down a bit on the "who's quickest in Club Cranky at the Glen competition"
I guess we have to give McFez the #1 spot and then it's all the others behind him.
Some day all Club Cranky cars will all still be running by the end of the last day and a Club Champ will finally be Crowned.
I wonder what the Crown will look like?

Default Crown?

Haha! McFez sure as hell is fast. Problem is keepin them BB stogether long enough to set them records.

If he wants the #1 spot that's okay. Us SBs will just hang back and have fun. In any event, your still the king, er, well maybe the prince, ah princess?

McCranky gave me that neat tag for my rear view mirror. "Big blocks in rear view mirror are smaller than they appear" Harhar.

McFex, thems mirrors don't reflect SBs so youse ain't gonna see em comin. jes goin baby.

Default big blocks....

Well all you big block fans, I think it's time to be at the next Run n Gun or Cranky's ROAD AMERICA benefit and shine. Huuummmm, I guess it's time to finish and paint the flip top BB replica I've been working on. Looking forward to meeting all those with the new mirror decals there.
