Has anyone taken their Cobra (real or not) down to Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ ????????????? Do we see any problems with me taking the FFR down for a little 1/4 mile fun?????????? As always, any assistance on this subject would be greatly appreciated.......
Yours in Fords,
Bill S.
PS: Before anyone tells me to go to the Glen, first a full time paying career type job, then the Glen, in that order ............

Bill
Because Etown is a highly regarded NHRA track, I doubt that tech would pass most Cobras or at least those that run under 14 seconds. Some tracks are more liberal in their tech interpretations than others and even Etown inspectors have been known to be inconsistent, but I doubt they would pass Cobras with their three point cages.
On the other hand, they might let the Cobras run on the eigth mile track where standards are relaxed a bit.
Who knows since on any given night I have seem some strange looking cars run at the track that I would be afraid to drive on the street let alone a race track.
If you are ready to test your Cobra let me know and I'll try and get you through at Island Dragway where sometimes they are a bit more relaxed. I'll be there this Sunday driving Greg Grobels 23 T altered.

Drag racing this weekend!
Will anyone be at VMP this weekend?
I want to see what the Cobra will run.
I checked VMP's site and it looks like a rollbar is all that's required unless I go quicker than 11.49. I doubt it'll do that on street tires.
I haven't been on a drag strip since high school so it might be funny to watch my first couple of passes.
Anyone got any tips. I'm running BFG Euro T/A's, 305/50-15, any suggestions on tire pressure? I'm thinking 40 front and starting about 18 rear and see how it hooks.
If any of you are there, stop and say hi.
Later,

Tim,
Just as an FYI, since I was running street tires, and indexing myself above 12.99, Englishtown had no problem with me running my CobXXXXX, I mean AC ACE REPLICA all day this past Saturday.....................

Wow! 11's
I made three passes at VMP Friday night and my danged clutch slave cylinder blew an o-ring. Aarrgghhh! The 10 cent part got me.
I haven't been on a drag strip in 18+ years, and I really didn't know what to expect out of the Cobra. I was guessing 12's on the street tires.
Anyway, My first pass turned out to be the quickest. I pulled into the right lane, did a short second gear burnout, and staged.
Didn't cut much of a light, a .710, but it left pretty well, I pulled her into second and she completely blew off the tires, wagging her tail all way to third, hooked up again and pulled hard the rest of the pass.
Here's the numbers:
R/T = .710
60' = 1.637 (hooked up well initially)
330' = 4.931
1/8 mi = 7.613
1/8 speed = 93.12 MPH
1000' = 9.934
1/4 mi = 11.893
1/4 speed = 115.49 MPH
The other two passes were in the left lane and were 12.332 @ 112.97MPH, (I missed fourth gear!) and a 12.225 at 114.85MPH.
I did get better on the tree though, I cut a .524 on the third pass.
I pulled back into the lanes for first round eliminations, and the clutch pedal went limp. Oh well!
She's on the lift tonight. An o-ring on the banjo fitting of the bleeder hose is leaking. I hope I can reach it without dropping the trans this time. Anyone out there with really small hands??? Help!
I had more fun than I thought I would driving in a straight line, but I'm not ready to give up the curves of road racing.

Mike,
I have a modified Jag rear w/ 3.54 gears and a power-lock diff, and a Tremec TKO trans.
I have BFGoodrich Euro T/A's 305/50-15, which are just over 27" tall.
Hope this helps,
