10.73 for me, but that's not nearly as quick as Hot Fingers. His SBC is really nasty, and naturally asperated. I was using a 100hp shot. My best, gasoline only, has been 11.15.
It Bites got into the 10s with his 540BBC, on slippery street tires and a guy named Greg... used to frequently get his 427 Roush SPF into the 10s, on MT drag radials. His speeds were close to 135 so his car would surely have gotten into the 9s if he'd launched hard, but he was too concerned about his IRS to do that.

I'm sure there are other, faster Cobras, and a lot that could be if their owners weren't worried about parts breakage. Me? Its my baby, but it is just a car and there's nothing that can't be repaired or replaced.

When I got into the 10s, I drove the car 75 miles to get there, and thankfully, 75 miles home.

Nice time I think to run lower 10's or faster you will have to run drag tires. My modded CTS-V ran a best time of 10.7 @ 128 this past year and tires were a big factor. |

Run & Gun in stock car shape and build
Fastest stock body car without and down force modes goes to Stacy P from Texas with a 427 tp and a 100 hp shot of NOS. He ran 9.87 at 138 in St Lious gateway track. This was with a 3.07 Jag rearend and 4 speed. There where a couple of cobras runing in the 8.90's that where 1/4 cars and strictly for the track. The Last one runninng in high 9.0's or low 10's was the guy from Fast Times in St Lious. This was on a rain week end and the track had no prep work done. This car was again stock body. It's all in the hook up and rolling off the line without smoking the tires. Alot of well built cobras running in the low 11.0's to high 10.0's. The new tires are getting better and better for bite. Rick L. Ps I run 12.3 with rolling out on the line and have 2.2 sec 60 ft times. No broken jag rearend yet and not trying. |

Thomas:You need to find out where the run on WrenchRat was so you can run full out without a halo cage.

I've run a best of 9.14, and that's all I plan to run in this car. I'm also pretty sure that with a solid rear end, instead of IRS, I could hit high 8's.

John O | Just to be clear, that wasn't my car, it was Steve Berg's in Spokane. It's his daily driver to work when the weather cooperates. That track changed ownership to NHRA rules, so he only made those few passes. I hear his car is even faster now, but he just drives it on the street. Per NHRA rules it's only legal for a 13.5 second 1/4. Cheers. |

Consistent 10.50's and 130 mph at numerous locations with the Gobra on DOT radial tires. We have also gone 167+ mph on the transponder at Texas World Speedway and have competed in the Big Bend Open Road Race three times - the fourth scheduled this year in March.
This car is really a six year old (built Sept. 2007) street driver with nearly 40K miles.....check out the multi-state cruise pictures on my profile / gallery.

Sorry, but I do not have any videos or time slips. The drag race times posted on my profile were from the Mid America Shelby Meet in Tulsa from 2011 and 2012 in the presence of thousands of people. Big Bend Open Road Race results are listed on their web site.

I took my circuit car for its first go at drag racing in the weekend. It was a cold slippery track, with most people giving up with no grip.
My car is manual, with a bronze clutch that you can't slip, on road tyres, so I took off and wheel spun for ages, backed off 3 or 4 times, got traction and passed my opponent just before half track so hardly a model take off.

0.19 reaction, 2.7 60ft and 13.3 at 117mph. So all in all I wasn't overly impressed with myself, but didn't get a chance to improve as they shut the two day event down. So I don't really know how well I did or could do.
