Thumbs up New Road Course for NJ

That's right folks, you heard it here first..."DA Bunnies" have found out that Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ has gotten final approval for a 1.7 mile (soon to be SCCA approved, or so "Da Bunnies" have been told) road course.............More details as they become available.

Ok McBill,
The ball is in your court. Start organizing the first annual Tri State open track event at Raceway park NJ. Club Cranky will be the first to sign up.
I am sure our members from NJ,NY, CT , MA and PA will all be there.

Cool

From what I was told yesterday, I thought they said a 1.7 mile track......OK, with all of the noise behind me, it could have been 1.25 I overheard "Da Bunnies" speaking about.........Once the track has an opening date, I'll make sure to "book" some track time.........HHHHHHHHmmmmmmmmm, perhaps we can organize a "Club Cobra" day .....Kind of like a cheap way to advertise the track for "E" Town, while getting the use of it for little or no cost (at least for a few hours)................Will have to do some research on this one and get back to all of you......

Regards,

McBill S.

PS: McJohn,

I was third in line at the gates yesterday morning, three corvettes in front of me, another 50+ of them behind me within an hours time......Serious money, serious tow vehicles (makes the McCranky "towmaster" look tame in comparison), lots of fun watching though..........................

Wow!! Haven't been on CC for days and the first thing I see is news of a road course at Etown.

I might as well buy a condo down there!!

Be prepared as I am SURE that there will be DB restrictions since the Napp brothers have a constant battle with the nearby citizens screaming that they didn't realize that when they bought their $500K homes, they didn't realize that there was a "noisy" race track nearby.

Bill... do you know where on the property the track will be located?

Looked like the old trailer parking field by gate #4 to me......But then again, they could have been regrading/restyling the main entranceway again .

Default UPDATE.....

Peter Baselice just came back from an event this past weekend at E-Town.

He said the road course is already paved. It is 1.3 miles long with some mild banks.

The course switches back on itself many times. Lots of tight turns. Peter thinks there going to need lots of armco due to that fact. No gravel pits and any ammenities as of yet.

He also told me that the SCCA officials were there scouting out the track and determined it is too short for any SCCA events.

There will also be noise restrictions, not sure what Dbs, but probably not as bad as LRP.

I assume since it is in NJ, we can make it Club Cranky's base of operations.....as long as the officials let Cranky drink his TnTs between sessions. Also, there are quite a few "Gentleman's Clubs" in the vicinity fer some after hours antics.

That is all.....

Default Wow

Great news on the track but between the drag racing and the motorcross we might have to Fly in by Helicopter or park in Staten Island. I hope they have a good plan

Newsflash: Englishtown, update

According to sources deep within, "Da Bunnies" have been told that the SCCA will not give approval to the new track for their venues (unless of course they are running something very small in displacement) due to the lack of proper run out areas. Da Bunnies had overheard the following: "With the layout of the current track, and how it switches back on itself in several places, we find a lack of safe runouts (concerns) in several areas, making for a potential problem while running any sort of high speed competitive events".

Film at eleven.....

Not as fancy as Rausch Creek, but at least it's going to open,
perhaps we can have a Club Cranky Show some evening this coming year.
If they are real tough on the DB levels I ain't going.

Default 95db@50 ft, unloaded 3500 rpm

That isn't too bad. A small HP low backpressure muffler should handle it easily. The small block cars will have it a lot easier the the BIG BLOCK's, as always. LRP is 85-89 (depending on who you talk to), at the side of the track, anywhere they want. Usually, somewhere like just before the brake area on the front, out on No-Name, or just over the crest of the uphill, all are areas of high RPM/load and full throttle. NHIS is at start finish, same high RPM/load, full throttle but allow 99 (also enclosed by the grandstand/wall and pit wall...like a sound tunnel with reflected pressure waves).

This will be a convenient test area for Road America too. And we can all go over to McJohnnies house for dinner and TnT's!

Default Got me thinking......

...we could plan something for mid summer.

I have an in ground pool and maybe 'reacquaint' myself with some old contacts in the 'dancing industry' for some added eye candy.

As long as I'm still single then...of course.
