Default New racetrack proposed in southeast Pennsylvania

I thought some of you in the tri-state area (pa,nj,del) might be interested in this news story http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?n...id=18041&rfi=6

Has anyone else heard about this? I heard a while back, but these are the first details I've seen.

Seems a local developer has a 620 acres tract of land about 45 minutes west of Philadelphia (between Pottstown and Reading if you are familiar with the area.) It's only about 20 minutes from where I live.

He is proposing a racetrack/campground complex. The track complex would include 5 paved courses including a 1/2 mile oval and a 2.73 miles road course. There is much more info at this linkhttp://www.libertybellmp.com/index.html

If what they say is true, it seems like they are doing it "right" (the engineering anyway.)

This is in the very early stages, still going through zoning hearings. Of course the local folks are already organizing their oppostion, so we'll have to see what happens. Maybe we should lend our support?

Default finished your fia?

Greg,
Are you finished your build? The last time I corresponded with you I thought you were close. I visited ERA on a trip through CT. I got the feeling they didn't take me seriously. I couldn't wait the 15 months they said it would take either.
Do you think the track is a real possibility? Most townships are hard to get these types of uses through.

Default Anything is possible in the county of landfills

Hey Dana,

Good to hear from you. Your SPF sounds awesome. I tried the photo link, but it didn't work. Sorry to hear it didn't work out with ERA, but you can't go wrong with either car.

I hope to have my ride done by spring, not much progress since early last summer. The car is turning out great though (at least I think so ) Maybe we can get together after I am on the road.

I don't know if the track has a chance, but I would love to see it happen. Berks County has many landfills and quarries that somehow get approved, so maybe...

Take care.

Greg

I have heard about a new race course out side of Harrisburg, Pa. call Rousch Creek Park, not far of Rt. 81. It was scheduled to open last year, but because of paving problems it did not. The last I visited the site they were waiting approval from the SCCA to inspect it and certify it. I do not know if any thing has been done of the the winter. I tryed the site before I posted this and was unable to reach it. I will try again and post the link when it is working.

Cool

Corky,

They are not having paving problems, but DEP problems. Unless all parties can come to terms, it could be quite a while before Rousch Creek opens.

Yours in Fords,

Bill S.
