sears points wine country classic - vintage car races
Spent an enjoyable day at SEARS POINT which is in the process of a redesign. Lots of great cars,
watched MAC ARCHER push his 427 around the course and swap leads with a beautiful FIA car.
Here are some pictures:-

Hi Daniel:
I see that car 16 would be the FIA; is 22 Mac Archer's 427? Must have been fun. I miss going there--San Diego doesn't have anything like it.
In your opinion, does SP favor the BB or SB? Seems to me, with those two long straights, and uphill section a BB might be good--but then again there are quite a few tight corners. I really miss crankin through the S turns on the back.

Bill,
Mac is the 22 car, the 12 FIA Cobra of Phil whatshisname? were swapping the lead on every other lap.
Mac is one hell of a driver. Sears Point is much more difficult that Laguna. Not to mention that seveal of the turns are new. I honestly would say overall the two cars were matched well. But the bb driver had his hands full, but his Mac ever so smooth!
Cheers, daniel

The 289 FIA Cobra (#12) is driven by Phil Gallant. He really can make that car fly. I was there yesterday and loved watching him give Mac (#22) in the 427 all he could handle. Also, thanks for taking a pic of my ERA 289 FIA car (pic 3913.jpg) in the SAAC car corral.
By the way the #16 FIA Cobra, you took pictures of , is owned and driven by Lynn Park.
Regards, FIA Mike

Beautiful pictures--good stuff!
And to think I was going to chide you for missing the Celebration of Wine event--it was actually cool and breazy at Coombs Ranch. (For you others--Fresno State hosts about 70 wineries and dozens of top resturants in a riverside setting--food, wine and Fresno's best plastic breasts!)
I think I had a good time--downed alot of wine, but some excellent port took my breath away--but I KNOW you did!

Appreciate your input, I lost my program..darn it! Your car is a real beauty. I was only able to attend on Saturday. Great turn out of Trans Am cars, was disappointed with C-mod/group 7 turnout. But what a nice
day. Will miss the CanAm Reunion at Cal.Speedway because it conflicts with DVSF.

Had tickets to FSU Viticulture thing. Beleive, it or not, I had to entertain a client (work) in Napa Sunday morning. Hate to do that 'w' thing. Anyhow, if we both were there, pity those other fools who expected to sample wines and foods. There wouldn't have been any left. Sunday next, there is a 'wine drive-open house through Madera, they have 3 new litte wineries.plus Quady. Will see you Saturday morn., then have to work the Jazz Festival beer booths, another Rotary fundraiser project... you know sell one, drink two.

DANIEL,
SORRY I MISSED YOU AT THE CORRAL, AT THE LAST MINUTE WE DECIDED TO NOT TOW A CAR DOWN. ON SUNDAY, ARCHER HAD A PROBLEM AND DID NOT GRID FOR THE RACE. PHIL GALLIANT WON AFTER TOYING WITH A LOTUS FOR ABOUT 6 LAPS. THE YELLOW 289 COBRA (#91) BELONGS TO RICH MASON. THAT CAR WAS A FORMER DRAGON SNAKE. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME HE HAD THIS ON THE TRACK, AND MENTIONED THAT HIS FLIP TOP HANDLES FAR BETTER. I MAY HAVE SOME PICTURES FOR YOU IN A WEEK OR SO OF THE REMAINS OF THE ERA.
