Pocono Pics
Took some pics up at the track on Saturday. Index at
http://www.priveye.com/pocono/ Anyone else take some? Roscoe |
As always, I'm, not only colorful, but color coordinated with my car as well. Would hate to clash......

I know Cranky has a ton of them. He was kind enough to take my camera all day and shoot away.
That was so much fun. **) **) I absolutely can't wait to do it again. Even though my car wasn't the fastest out there, I could have cared less. It was just a blast. As soon as I got home, I watched my in car camera shots (thanks, Terry). Thanks to everyone there. It was great to hang out with you guys. Looking forward to meeting you at the track again. Hoping to find a way to get to VIR or the Glen next year. I've got a good shot of my car. But I can't seem to attach it. It says the file is too large. I'll find a way to post it. Steve |
Bill S:
Yeah, you're a regular Gainsborough!! Klayfish: Sorry I didn't get any shots of you over in the garage area. Can you email me your pic and I can put it up on my server or make it smaller. Roscoe |
Roscoe,
No problem about the pics. I know Cranky got several disks full of shots, hopefully he'll have 'em posted soon. I need your e-mail address, so I can send my photo. |
Cranky has about 60 pics. He has them on his hard drive but due to the cable being out in his town all day yesterday, he has not been able to post.
I thought this was a great event at Pocono. We had a number of new guys 'cutting their teeth' at the track for the first time. Cranky and I just went as spectators since we're saving ourselves for the Glen next month. We watched from the hairpin turn, took pictures, tire temps and offered advice. It was great to see folks enthusiasm. We finished up the day with dinner at a local joint in Pocono. (Klayfish...we were looking for you but I think you left!) and recounted the days events. There were no mishaps, no accidents, no fender rubbing (except for Roscoe's own tires!), no reall accidents at all at the event. Beautiful weather with a great group of guys. Hopefully some of the newbies will make it to the Glen in either August or October. MUST GET TO THE GLEN...MUST GET TO THE GLEN!!!!!!! |

Roscoe,
I'll send the pic in just a bit. John, After my 4th runs, I packed up pretty quickly and headed out. I thought most of you had left already, as several of the trailers were gone. I told the wife I'd be home for a late dinner. No mishaps, no problems...couldn't get much better. The only problem I saw was that red Miata which scraped the wall, put some nice damage on the drivers side. Not a scratch on my car, just lots of debris picked up (I was pulling small chuncks of rubber of the rims and under the hood yesterday). Already told my wife I want to get to the Glen next year. Steve |
Steve,
In my last run (white group) there was a 5.0 mustang that ran into the guard rail head on. After you hit the speedway and make that first turn where the flag station is. There is a guardrail with tires around it. He it the very end of it. Don't think there was much damage to qualify him as a 'donor vehicle'. Roscoe |

Roscoe,
Thanks for posting that pic for me. It's frightening how behind the times I am with computers. I love that shot with the Viper following me. It's a shame we can't do a close up to see how tight I was gripping that steering wheel. Did the Mustang hit on that first gentle right turn coming off the superspeedway? That was a fast corner, took me a few tries to get the angle right. The only corner that I never tried to push was coming back on to the superspeedway, because the wall was there, and the bump mid-corner made my car jump a little. Steve |
Nice pic.
Steve...you hit the apex on that turn perfectly! Next time I'll remember to bring my box of Depends for everyone! :p :p |
Steve,
Yes! That was the turn he lost it on. Roscoe |

Going thru your pictures and jumped to your repair of the front spoiler. A friend ran one of the Cobra R's last year. The splitter would bend down and drag on the ground at speed. He put nylon blocks spaced along the lower edge to keep it off the ground about 1". Said the flex added downforce as it bent, but was too expensive to grind off. Being racer anal, I would have used aluminum for the lighter weight, and less stress on the plastic, but steel works fine. Hope you had fun at Pocono, but wait till you see Watkins Glen!! Be there in October. McFEZ |
who had the R and what track was it at? I know quite a few of those R guys ;) ....I tried using aluminum, but it had too much spring to it, whereas the steel was a bit stiffer. I may try filling the removable splitter with expanding foam to see if that helps strengthen the spoiler portion of the splitter....

Eric Woodman. Previously ran a 67(?) yellow mustang, then the R (crashed at NHIS, and now ? I know him from COM. McFEZ |

Did you know Darth Vader drives a Cobra at PDA:
http://www.gallery.imp-auto.com/PDAG...Wht_4539_p.jpg Then again, the following shot should be made in to an advertisement for the Tri-State Cobra Association (no, not because my car is out front, but for the layout): http://www.gallery.imp-auto.com/PDAG...Wht_4587_p.jpg Yours in Fords, Bill S. |
Yikes, Bill. Talk about three different lines. I'm guessing you were right on the line, and the others were losing control trying to catch you? :D
