Default NASA, SCCA or nada?

I have a B&B kit that I am building. I will probably want to run some track time. Eventually, I might want to trade in for an FFR SPEC Racer and do the SPEC series. I am located in Illinois. If I were interested in joining a club, would I be better off with NASA, SCCA or nothing at all?

Tom

Default Racing Choices

Do you have a license now? SCCA will require driving schools (where my car got hit) that are high risk to your car. You have to do two of them.

NASA requires the driving schools and can take longer to get your license, but does a better job of teaching car control.

NASA doesn't tolerate bumping. You will run in SU1 where you won't win, but you might mix it up a little. You'll get more track time.

SCCA will put you in GT-1. You won't win. You won't mix it up. You might get bumped. You will get a little less track time and get an earlier drive home on Sunday (or get to sleep in a little bit).

Do not fold, spindle or mutilate. You mileage may vary. Offer not valid in Mexico.

I agree with Dan...if you just want to track the car, NASA is a great starting point.

Also, there are many Driver Education Schools that you can attend to get on track education and experience w/o the concern of going fender to fender and wrecking your car.
