Club Cranky 2003 Schedule
Hi yall!
Wondering if the selection committee has met and decided on an event schedule for 2003? I'm trying to get a handle on 2003 events. McHank FFR 1776-II |
Hank,
Usually the Cranky One starts looking into the new year first...but I know he's worried that the parts haven't come in yet for his new moder. I know McFez is trying to wrangle some seat time at Mid Ohio to coincide with the DVSFIII. That way we can go do some track time and show up at The Fling with dirt and brake dust on the cars with open pipes. |
John,
Open pipes at DVSFIII? You are a copy cat! It has been done, try no pipes if you want to make your presence felt.. TURK |
Turk...
...not exactly...see, a copy cat would have to do EXACTLY like you. The difference will be that I will have been at the race track all day thrashing the car instead of waxing it!  ;) ;) :p :p If we can get additional spots at Mid Ohio will any of the Gasholes be joining us??? I'm sure Pete C and Jim Crilly would join us! |
Johnny,
don't forget me for Mid Ohio... bring money and your apron and secret sauces and your GIANT BALLS! |
Bony,
Bring your training wheels and pacifier! Oh yeah and don't forget the XXXL Depends. You'll need them.    |
Hey McMahon!
Don't forget that Sheep....or did she leave you and go back to Montana? Roscoe |
Roscoe,
SHE has a name...its Jamettahhhhhhh!!!! ;) ;) ;) She is still with me, keeping me warm on these cold Northern nights with her sweet wool coat. Ahhhhh, sweet Jamettah. You do know that I took ownership of her younger seester don't you? At the last Crankoid event at the Glen, Bill Connelly gave her to me, she is the runt of the litter, but I love her too!!! :JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE |
I'll post NASA tomorrow
I will post the NASA events tomorrow.

2003 Open Track possibilities
Most likely,
Three dates with PDA at the Glen. August 18,19,2003 Rochester Shelby Club at the Glen ( may need full cages) like Hank & Terry COM at the Glen COM at Summit Point NASA at Summit point Superformance event if run at VIR (Charlotte too far) Pocono with PDA for warmups to real tracks. Mid Ohio prior to SF III ( if FEZ can make it happen) LRP with PDA and others for the muffled Crankoids. Road America at Elkhart Lake /Northwoods SAAC Perhaps we can persuade a few more waxers to join us this year. ( hopefully the ones with the big moders, if nothing else they are fun to watch). As soon as I know dates I will publish the unofficial schedule. Cranky :3DSMILE: BTW, Not worried about parts, just that 15-1 pistons are not shelf items. |
ME TOO ????
HEY, JOHN - -
I'D LIKE TO JOIN YOU AT MID OHIO IF YOU HAVE AN EXTRA SPOT AVAILABLE. PROVIDED THAT YOU DON'T LAUGH TOO HARD AT A SLIGHTLY OVERWEIGHT, SENIOR CITIZEN, JET JOCKEY WITH A MODERATE DRINKING PROBLEM. I'LL HAVE EITHER THE ERA - 427 OR THE GT-40 THERE THIS YEAR. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO ??? Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY, BLACKJACK |
Cranksters, consider the road america event, usually the weekend after labor day. Nelson Garrison and I are going for sure next year as we missed it this year. They are running a transponder deal on saturday of the 3 day event. 3 sessions of 30 minutes, fastest lap counts. Big block guys will probably whip all us small block guys as it is a hp track. Sure would like to meet all you guys? Scott
|
Black Jack,
We'll keep you in mind if we get the spots. We laugh at no one....to me it's very encouraging to see guys like us, a little older, get out there and trying something new. Scott, If your talking about that September event with all Cobras at Road America, I would love to go, but it is such a long haul for us. I don't rule it out, I would love to run Road America. |
John, its 1800 miles for us from Arizona. 50 late model mustangs, 50 older mustangs, and 25 cobras. Its a well run event, lots of nice people, plenty of drinking too. scott

I'll do Mid-Ohio if you've got room. Appreciate it. I will bring my own sheep. :JEKYLHYDE |
Jamo,
We'd love to have you and Turk join us. We'll keep you posted. I haven't heard from McFEz lately. I know he was going to see if he could squeeze us in to whatever club was running there while The Fling was going on. |
Just for the record, I am checking around several area tracks for track time to coincide with DVSFIII. But its too early for most tracks to have any scheduleing except for major sanctioned events. Current user clubs are receiving notice and have to respond whether they want to continue previous events and/or add events. Once this is sorted, the tracks will notify the clubs of their dates, then I will contact those clubs to see if they will allow "outsiders" into their event. Some do, some don't. It will be a while before anything happens. I will try to block out some space, then sign ups are on an individual basis.
Will let you know how things are going as I hear about it. It might not be such a good thing if everybody starts to call individually, but if DV wants to delegate someone else for this, I'm more than open to it. Just trying to get the ball rolling, not become the "Track Time Czar", so any of you "A" types, cool your jets and let it happen. McFEz |
Good Job

Many thanks. Hopefully, I will have Turk willing to give it a try by then. Hank You might want to try the Mid-Ohio SCCA Region--one call and I had the autocross set up. Obviously, getting them to host the autocross is a lot easier than getting a track--but they might have some contacts with the other clubs. Their Board really got behind the Cobra autocross. I gave DV the contact people, and he's talked to them. For what its worth. |
Jamo
My name is Don. I do not want to set up and run an open track date unless you have someone who wants to fund it and take the organizational role. The logistics would be horrendous, and the work load far more than I would care for. And the SCCA definately is NOT amenable to Cobras on track because of the GCR. I am just trying to contact clubs with confirmed track events in the area and within the time frame. Get their permission for whoever of us wants to run (many clubs don't welcome outsiders or have restrictive rules such as no single hoop bars etc), and publicize it here. You're then on your own to contact them, pay them and show up. Since I would not expect many more than 15 or so people to show up, piggybacking an existing event is the only feasible way to go. But thanks for the suggestion, and am glad there is someone else trying to get something going to help DV lighten his immense load. Tracks are now just starting to organize next years calenders, and nothing much will come down until after the first of the year. I'll stay in touch. Don |
