Default Roll Cage

Racers,
Has anyone come across a place to purchase complete cages for cobras. I am planning to fabricate my own but just thought I would ask. what I was actually looking for was a pre cut, pre bent, pre notched, ready to weld up by the purchaser. Only someone who has fabricated such an item for racing would appreciate the work and time involved.
Thank you, Cobracer#15

It seems like you would not only have to find a cage for cobras, but one for your specific make of kit. I have never heard of such a thing, but that doesn't really mean a whole lot.

Thumbs up

Alex,
I had a race car shop fabricate a 6 point rollbar, mig welded and built to NHRA specs. I suggest you find a shop in your area to do it as you will need proper under car frame braces to mount the rollbar to. Also they will know the size and thickness of the steel tubing for you depending on the ET/speed you want to be certified for.It costs a few bucks more for a pro to do it but then I figure my A$$ is worth it.
Perry.

Thumbs up Ditto

Ditto Perry's comments. I had a custom bar fabricated for my FFR. It was removable, and didn't require any body modification other than additional holes behind the cockpit. And I didn't have to remove the existing single hoop.

It wasn't cheap, but it was a great piece of work. Done by a chassis shop that does major drag cars and some road race cars.

Look in Summit. They have some roll bars & cages in there. It might be worth while to cut & fit theirs instead of starting from scratch. They only cost $200 or so.

Smile Thanks.

Thanks to all who replied.
Perry,
Any welding I have done on racecars I always have the attitude of " Fabricate and weld like your A$$ depends on it" because it probably will. Ha! Ha!

Thanks again,
