Default Helmet Recommendations

Full face, Snell 200 M or SA I know: BUT: What brand and from what source? Have always used Bell but my present helmet is too old. Thanks for any info: have to buy one soon. cb

My advice (from someone who sells helmets), go and try them on. Full face, and SA2000 is the way to go. You should be looking at either Bell, or "G" Force. Do not buy one mail order, as you must try on each helmet to make sure it fits your head properly(they all run a bit different from make to make and style to style). If you do not know what to look for, seek proffesional assistance from someone at your local speed shop.

Sincerely,

Bill S.

Chiperb,

Check out www.helmetcity.com - they have a Bell/Pyrotect full face for $269.95. Bell merged with Pyrotect recently and their product lines merged also. Hard to find a better deal on a quality SA2000 helmet. They come in white, black, and a cool silver w/US flags. Most competing brands only come in white. For a pic, look at www.pyrotect.com.

I bought my Bell/Pyrotect online with no problems. I bought the same size as the old Bell it replaces, and it fits perfectly. I don't know about your area, but speed shops with a variety of auto racing helmets to try on are pretty few and far between around here.

I bought another Bell due to my favorable experience with my old one. It has held up well over the last ten seasons, and Bell surely knows their way around building a safe helmet.

Doug

I've always liked Arai because they seem to fit me the best. Some others that are really built well are Shoei and Soumy. Like mrmustang said, go to a shop and try on some on. If they don't fit right and you end up wearing them for any length of time it will be a unpleasant experience.
