I know where you can get a reproduction of an original but I don't know if it will work on anything but a Shelby, Kirkham or Hi Tech. Negatives are that it will be hard on passengers and I think they are illegal in some states.

Would they be street legal in AZ?

No, but nobody would probably bother you. :)

I have the short windshield on my cars and occasionally drive on the street, although ours are primarily for the track. One thing you have to worry about on the street is getting hit by a rock or even a big bug. Having had blood drawn, I have to admit to being cautious about really wanting to drive on the street full time without a full windshield.
If you are playing at track days, just make the windshields interchangeable. Some people make some quick release kits for the full size windshields (we made our own) and the small windshields can be put on with zeuss twist fastners. You can buy the small windshield from any of the Cobra manufacturers including FFR.

I think mine from FF was about $125, plain plexiglass or whatever but it can be bent a bit to fit the contour also.

Wow Nick, I'm having to use the search engine on your site now! It's really growing!

MPMike,
I'm currently in the process of having some screens made from an original 1 piece racing screen as fitted to the 427 comp cars by Shelby American in the 1960's. I will post some pictures once I have one fitted to my Kirkham if you are interested?

I was driving my Mercedes the other day.....a rock hit the windshield like a rifle shot....which would have pegged me right between the eyes.....no windshield and I would not be here....

What would be the point of using a comp windshield today, is it the look you want or is it in the rules to race in a certain category, the weight savings can't really be enough to make a difference for just grassroots racing?

The full windscreen is a huge air dam, the competition windscreen cuts out a substantial amount of drag. Besides, it just looks really cool, IMHO.

The big open grill is a huge air dam also:confused:, they do look cool, you can tilt the windshield back for better airflow and switch to a plastic windshield for weight savings, I guess if your racing for world records you might as well get a comp windshield...
