Hello.
Just found this forum .... I have been building an A&C Cobra since Nov 2009 (not that long!).

I have built up a 521 CU BBF (stroked 460), Tremec T56 Magnum 6-speed, Holley Fuel Injection....

I want to order the body later this month.....

Anyway, wheels are my issue right now.
I put Wilwood front disc brakes on the front and Willwood on the rear as well.
My understanding is that the front actuallly moves out 1/2 inch on each side according to Wilwood. But the rear should not have changed.

So I assume I need an extra 1/2 inch of backspace for the front wheels so everything lines up right?

I'd like to run 17 inch wheels with something like a 315 series on the rear.

Does anyone have any comments about wheels, clearances, etc?

What kind of wheels are people using on theirs? I have been looking at TeamIII Halibrand replicas perhaps?

Don't try to get any wheels until you get the body. Then you will also have to determine what tires you want and get the specs for the tread and section width. Back spacing, wheel width and tire section width will all come into play to determine where the tire will set in relation to the body. Then if you have a solid rear axle do you have bump stops to keep the tires from rubbing the body on a hard bump. If not then you may have to move them in if you have the room, or go to a smaller wheel and tire. I recommend you mount the body, ensuring that it reasonable centered by the wheel lips and the same height side to side. Then put a level down from the wheel lips and measure to the wheel mounting points on the front and back. Once you have those measurements you can lay it all out on paper. Remember back spacing is the the rim mounting surface to the outside of the wheel lip, which is usually a 1/2". So a 10" wheel is 11" outside to outside. Take your time and get it right. Wheels and tires as you know are expensive.

I finished my A&C about 2 months ago....call Joe, he knows better then anyone else.

I am using the same brake setup but don't have wheels or body yet. When i picked up my frame, on my way down i stopped by EddytheB's shop and he had a few A&C's there with 17". The one with wilwoods had 4 3/4 backspacing front and rear with 17x8 and 17x11. check out his website or email him, he is very helpful as is everyone on this forum. Now that you found it i'm sure your build will go a little smoother with all the help you can get here.

Ill give him a call about the wheels, but Ill probably wait until I get the body to double check.

Another question, is the steering column. Does the steering rod and ujoint run under the driver side exhaust header? Seems a little tight there! Does anyone have a picture they could post?

The steering shaft runs above the headers. Its very tight, I have power steering.
