Default wow what a Summer

Guys,
Car gave me fits all Summer, started in Pigeon Forge at the Grand Spring Rod Run. Had aan intake gasket leaking changed that, helped a little but still not quite right at idle. To make a long very, long story short, my bronze distr. gear was worn to a razor edge. Called the engine builder, he said most guys who run a mechanical roller on the street change the gear once a month. So I put in a Comp Cams composite gear. Cost over a hundred dollars but suppose to fix the problem. Never thought a dist. gear would cause this kind of trouble. Also twisted the splines on driver's side axle. I was running a racheting locker in the rear end, it kept unlocking all the time when not under a load then when you got back into the throttle it would snap and pop. I put in a posi unit end much better, corners a ton better don't quite understand why but it does.

Dave:
Sorry to hear about all the engine problems.
It just makes my original decision a safe one to go 351, .030 over, cast iron heads, blue racer cam.
Mild motor, 350HP at the flywheel, did I say "Bullet Proof"!
Maybe we can meet halfway to go for a ride before the snow flies.
Jim

Dave & Rascal

I read on one of your post you wet sanded and buffed your gel coat. Tell me how you did it? I like to try it. My gel coat getting dull.
Thanks
Ron

Default fun fun

Ron,
It was pretty straight forward. First we wet sanded with 800, then 1200 and last 1500 grit. Next buffed with 1000 and 1200 buffing compound. Last we polished with Menzerna FG 400,2500 and finally 4500. Took about 40 hours but well worth it. I tried to post pics haven't had much luck file too large.
Dave

PS:
Gel coat is hard stuff, thought my arm was going to fall off. Don't worry about rubbing through it's thick.

Hey Jim haven't talked to you in a long time. If weather holds we can find someplace to have dinner. Let me know what time works for you.
