Default Dash Mounting

Just curious about how everyone mounted the dash to the body/cowling? I've never really got it mounted the way I want and would like to get it permanently mounted.

Thanks,
Roscoe

Roscoe: never liked the idea of trying to screw the dash up into the lip of the cowl.

This is what I did. I made (2) brackets off the fire wall they are about 10" long. At each end there is a bend at 90 degrees. I bolted the brackets to the fire wall and bolted the dash to the brackets. The brackets (2) are about 3 to 4 inches from either end. Then I bolted the dash to the transmission tunnel on each side. I put chrome bevel upholstery washers under flat head machined screws.

Once in the dash is very stabble.

Hope this helps.

Jim

Hi Roscoe,
I mounted mine with three screws through the cowl and the two screws through the console (tranny tunnel), one on each side. I was worried about how securely that would work so I added large fender washers to the back of the cowl screws and the inside of the console. I haven't had any issue with this set-up. I was also thinking that brackets made to come off of the hoop and attech to the face of the dash would work. If you use the right bolt head it would look like the original cars.
