Default Steering colum

I was ordering my column, 30inch ididit, and noticed they stated it had the standard GM 3 7/8 wiring connector. I looked at the Flaming River and they stated they had the standard 4 1/4 connection. The wiring harnesses just say standard GM but no size.

Am I missing something here? I hate ordering the wrong things and dealing with returns.

Thanks,
Aaron

Aaron,

I used the IDIDT column with an American Auto wire harness, no problems.
What is your harness?

Glad to hear you are making progress.

Regards

I was going to use the Painless but I talked to Sumitt and they said their harness would work just as well and save me 100 bucks. So, I am thinking of going that way.

Hi: Which ididt clomun did you use? WAs the joint tieing the steering column to the rack and pinion from AC? If not which joint did you use. I can't find the cavalier or acadian column nor do i really want to go through and cut and weld the cloumn either. AC has the column and joint that would drop right in there but the price premiun is there also. I have seen some ididt columns for 259.00. Thats a great price.

Thanks in advance

Did you guys check out the Speedway Motors hot rod column? 30", polished stainless w a quick release hub, $119.95. I used this column and I'm very satisfied.

I used an Ididit 30" straight column with Borgensen Double 'D' shaft with a vibration connector. I also used the gimble mount coming out of the firewall supplied by Ididit. I had a friend with a machine shop build me a mount for the top of the pedal box.

I ended up going with the 30" Ididit. I looked at the Speedway set up and it looked cool. I liked the removeable wheel but the I wanted to have the blinkers, hazards, and tilt on the column for no other reason than if my wife drives the car I want it to be as firmilliar as possible.

I got the Summit harness and looks like I will be making my own connections to the steering column. No big deal, Ididit sends the connector wire breakdown.

Thanks Guys,

Aaron

I called IDIDIT and asked for the correct connector for the column. It came with full wiring instructions.

May I suggest to anyone else that reads this, get the column that has the bright lights control in the turn signal. It beat the crap out of a switch on the dash.

Just my opinion.

Wish I knew that was an option before I got the one I did.
