Left front tire rubbing

Hey guys: Still haveing problems with my left front tire rubbing. I was thinking on lowering my rear end to see if that would lift up the front. Even though i really like the way it sits right now with the rear end high. What level did you all set yours up at? I have tightened up the left spring using the nut on the bottom of the shock. The left side is like 5 threads higher then the right side. I dont like that at all. I loosed the lower control arm but have not touched the upper yet.

The adjustable knobs on the bottom. How do they work? When you are facing the knob, what happens when you turn it counter clock wise and clock wise.

I could not get the correct ride height on my car at first.
I spoke with Joe T and he sent me aluminum spacers that go above the springs under the frameand they pilot the ID of the spring to keep them in place.
I was then able to adjust the bottom of the shock to get the right height

Look at my gallery at the pic of the engine area. Pan to the right and you can see the spacer above the spring on the drivers side.

Thanks Jim, i will call Joe today and see if he could send me some spacers too. I see that your car's rear end sits lower then mine. Can you tell me which holes you have your rear coil overs mount to on that bracket. Just tell me for example that your lowest bolt is going through the 2 hole up.

Thanks

Also, So if i tighten that spring, it will raise the car. Man, the passenger side is at its lowest thread while the driverside is at least 5 thread up.

Tire Rubbing ?

Automan,
This may sound like a dumb question, but did you have the front end alligned yet? If not, that could be the problem. When I had mine done they had to order extra shims to bring the camber of the wheels into place. I would say between 1/2 and 3/4 of an inch of shims were used and if the caster is to far forward or back the tires could hit the front or rear of the fender well in a tight turn. Sam

I am not familiar wit A&C, but many cars use the Mustang II front suspension. Does yours? My front would rub in moderate-hard cornering and especially on bumps or dips. I replaced the stock front a arms and used coil over springs and shocks. I found the original springs were way under rated for the front end. I now have 500# springs which carry the front end nicely.

Is it possible your springs are too light? BB with Small block spring rating?

You could swap (r-l and l-r) your coil overs to the other side and see if the problem remains or migrates to the passenger side.

Possible your anti sway bar needs some adjustment.

Do you need a different backset on your wheels?

I don't know for sure just throwing ideas your way that might help.

Good Luck!!
John

Automan:

On my rear coil over shock setup. There is an L shapped bracket that has
(2) bolts bolting it to the bracket on the rear axle tube.
The bolt on the top is located in the second hole from the top of the bracket.
I can't tell how many holes up the lower bolt is. But when I look at it I see a single hole exposed below the bottom of the bracket.
Also, on the adjustable nut on the bottom of the shock there is about 3/16" of thread exposed.
Hope this helps.
Jim
