Don,
Your first was better than Ratboys last.

We need to get you to a wide open empty parking lot. The old Costco on Bell and 51st Ave comes to mind.

What actually happened to Dan's car? Did he custom grind a cam lobe for real or is that just talk?

DWRAT 10-31-2009 07:25 PM

I lost a cam lobe on my way home just outside of Wickenberg.

Danr55 11-01-2009 04:54 PM

That's too bad. Any idea how it happened? What caused it?

DWRAT 11-01-2009 05:27 PM

Nothing obvious, may have been from brake-in but that is just a guess.
By the way, what did you have done and how are you doing?

Danr55 11-01-2009 06:09 PM

I had some surgery and I'm doing great. Thanks for asking.

You sure you didn't just have one lifter go out of adjustment or maybe bend a push rod?

DWRAT 11-01-2009 06:55 PM

I did have a couple lifters go bad but the push rods a fine.

Danr55 11-01-2009 08:45 PM

That sucks, Dude!

Maricopa 11-02-2009 07:56 AM

That's a drag about the cam. Non-roller I assume? I understand you gotta use a diesel or racing oil with zinc. 'Modern' oils don't have enough I guess.

Dan glad to hear you're up and about.

Robert McLinden 11-02-2009 10:18 AM

All non roller cam applications need the Zinc. Check the Comp Cams website for information on the quantity required. Most name brand oils including those for diesel engines have removed all or most of the Zinc. You will have to do some research to find the ones that have the proper amount or use an additive that says it has it in it.

Maricopa 11-02-2009 10:22 AM

Diesel too now? Wow.

mikiec 11-02-2009 12:53 PM

Thanks to the E.P.A.

There are a number of ZINC additives out there.

Mike
