Don,
Your first was better than Ratboys last.
We need to get you to a wide open empty parking lot. The old Costco on Bell and 51st Ave comes to mind.

What actually happened to Dan's car? Did he custom grind a cam lobe for real or is that just talk?

I lost a cam lobe on my way home just outside of Wickenberg.

That's too bad. Any idea how it happened? What caused it?

Nothing obvious, may have been from brake-in but that is just a guess.
By the way, what did you have done and how are you doing?

I had some surgery and I'm doing great. Thanks for asking.
You sure you didn't just have one lifter go out of adjustment or maybe bend a push rod?

That's a drag about the cam. Non-roller I assume? I understand you gotta use a diesel or racing oil with zinc. 'Modern' oils don't have enough I guess.
Dan glad to hear you're up and about.

All non roller cam applications need the Zinc. Check the Comp Cams website for information on the quantity required. Most name brand oils including those for diesel engines have removed all or most of the Zinc. You will have to do some research to find the ones that have the proper amount or use an additive that says it has it in it.

Thanks to the E.P.A.
There are a number of ZINC additives out there.
