I saw this - I like the look :3DSMILE:
- light
- stainless steel
- looks original
- not too expensive (I guess)

Don't know who did it - would like them myself :)

You looking for something to attach to the vehicle or a portable device?

Bill Bess 02-07-2010 06:37 AM

I don't want no stinking cup holders.

I just purchased a simple (cheapo) two cup deal from the local auto parts store. I holds two cups, and a little space in the middle for the garage door opener, it's thin side plate just slips snuggly between the passenger seat and the tunnel.

What I usually do if I'm traveling a long way on a hot day is slide a very small cooler between the seats, back against the rear panel, install my cup holder and I'm set.

The majority of the time the cockpit is clean and original looking (no stinking cup holder)

Just want to add, Jay ( in Kingman) FFR Cobra has the best customer interior I've ever seen.

I'm sure your cheap solution don't stink - and looks very original %/
but I guess dwrat - like me - would like a more permanent and elegant solution

This is nice looking. Is this screwed down or velcro attached? Can the lid lift without interferring with a 2.5 lb fire extinguisher mounted on the wall between the seats?

Looking for something that attachs to the car. I really like the one posted above that has 2 holder just infront of the shifter.
Not sure how I am going to drill two 3" holes in that area as my dash will be to low in that area, maybe I can get Don Morse to help me drill some holes.:D

John-Tucson 02-07-2010 09:28 AM

Nope. I don't do no stinkin' pictures. Translation- I don't know how to send them on clubcobra. Dan, email me at:aida_kerekes@msn.com and I'll send you a few pictures. I purchased one from an RV parts supply store. The link that "HENRIK" sent has some terriffic looking cup holders at excellent prices. We had talked about the diameter needed and the depth as well as the placement back far enough from the firewall so that you can get the cup into and out of the holder without hitting the bottom of the dash.

Scotchman 02-07-2010 09:29 AM

Bob Bro,
Can you show us a pic of it mounted in your car ? I never noticed it at our meets, but it looks like it might be perfect.

John-Tucson 02-07-2010 09:31 AM

Most cup holders are the same diameter as a door hole cutter. Use that and file / sandpaper the edges smooth.

DWRAT 02-07-2010 09:50 AM

E-mail sent, thanks John.

Steve,

I bought one of the consoles from Steve at Console Creations. You can either screw it down to the tunnel or Velcro it (or just let it sit on the tunnel). I ended up going the Velcro route (industrial Velcro included) and it hasn't moved at all.

You do have to go to a shorter (~1.5 lb) fire extinguisher. The standard armrest is 8" high, which was too high for me. Steve will make it any height you want, so if you're interested, mock something up to measure the height you'd like.

Looks like the one I found also :)

I prefer them in stainless steel (carpet is grey / will match the instruments) - and more deep (better grip)

but looks nice and original in black/black :MECOOL:
