Tinner, from what I've heard or read, there's been only one other Cobra, here in AZ, that has been able to come anywhere near the 10.74 I ran and that was Greg with his KILLER Roush 427 SPF. He always goes in the 10's with a soft launch and hits over 130MPH, which is 10.0 territory with a hard launch.

OK Karl, thanks for this piece of information, it kinda puts me in a bit of a fix though since I have never driven a car with this type of power before on the track or 1/4 mile, but I am willing to take it out for a dance, thus what do I need learn and do, where can I get a copy of the rules, explanations of the terms and suggestions for the correct launch protocols, and appropriate attire?

Bein' a fine upstanding gent n'all I want to makes sure I get it right the first time, so do any of you fine upstanding gents have any suggestions of where I should go to get this information, not the rude type though?:LOL::LOL: tin-man

Ohh Grasshopper,
When you see the last yellow on the slow tree you should be doing your thing, a street car will not generally beat the tree. I suggest you leave at lower RPM like maybe 2 grand and sneak up on tire spin.

As a first timer or with limited track time fight every urge you have to drive through it if you loose traction, get off the throttle !!! If you have not hit anything and car is pointed in the right direction then maybe roll the gas back on.

Use your first pass just to lightly launch the car and then motor down the track lightly so you can learn what is at the other end. Learn where the return road/s is and how to get on it. Choose the lane on the return side so you don't have to cross lanes until you get a feel and are safe.

These cars will bit you in the a$$ and ARE faster than you are. Try to get into your first gotcha slowly enough that you get to remember everything that happened. Enjoy

Well in that case side step the clutch at about 5 k and grab second as you bounce off the retaining wall on the lane.

Jack, is a former member of the AZ Cobras.

At a drag strip in Tucson a few years back he smacked the retaining wall. The tires were cold and the track was cold.

His wife was not happy.
