Found a car.

Well I found the car I want, now I have to wait for the fire sale to start.
I already tried low balling the guy with little luck.
What do you all think this car is worth?

Danr55 06-09-2010 08:11 PM

It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. The price doesn't look that far out of line for a chevy shelby.

DWRAT 06-09-2010 08:14 PM

Hey Danr55, Do you know a guy named Del W? He said you guys hung out for years hunting somewhere. Do you remember him?

Danr55 06-09-2010 08:39 PM

Of course I do. Where did you run into Del?

DWRAT 06-09-2010 08:47 PM

We are Friends on a fishing site he runs. I posted I was looking for a Cobra and he mentioned you.
Del is a very cool person and runs a crazy web site with no rules at all.
I've been to his machine shop/fishing shop a couple times.

DWRAT 06-09-2010 09:36 PM

Danr,
I sent you a PM about Del.

Danr55 06-09-2010 09:44 PM

THanks Dan. I just talked with Del.

BBfangs 06-10-2010 05:25 AM

WOW, that is a nice car. I would love the Lingenfelter LS7 in mine. I would say the price is just a bit high, especially for todays market. But I agree with Danr55, it is worth what you are willing to pay.

67JET 06-10-2010 10:32 AM

Beautiful car. With that running gear the maintance should be very low. It should handle great aslo.

mikiec 06-10-2010 10:50 AM

To much money, and the wrong motor for you. Based on experience you can't handle it.

If you want a chevy powered cobra have Jeff build you one.

Mikiec, if DWRAT wants to throw his money down on a Cobra with a chebby engine let him do it, difficult to reason why thought.

DWRAT, why you considerin a chebby engine, just curious? tin-man:confused:

DWRAT 06-13-2010 02:51 PM

TinMan
Chevy motors make more power then Ford motors and the are reliable, even with me working on them.

Tim Brewer 06-13-2010 03:12 PM

Chevys arn't more reliable than Fords and they don't make more power than Fords either. An LS engine like that probable will be more reliable than Ford's like the typical Windsors or def FE's. But no more reliable than Ford's newer Mod motors. Chevys' only make more power CHEAPER than Fords because of less expensive hi-perf. parts available, but that's becomming less of an issue lately.

mikiec 06-13-2010 05:24 PM

Dan.

Remember you can ruin a Chevy cam as easily as you ruined the Ford one. They are not immune. Chevy had issues with cams on their old 307 small blocks.

The only thing you cannot do with that motor is drop nuts into the intake. If you could that motor would fail.

Mike

"Chevy motors make more power then Fords motors and the are reliable" What kind of kool aid have you been drinking? How do you figure a chevy makes more power than a ford? Reliability is a function of care and feeding.

Because Jeff says it does.

azfordman 06-13-2010 06:56 PM

Wasn't there a Chevrolet powered car that ran against the Cobras back in the day?????? How did they do??????

(sarcasm off)

Danr55 06-13-2010 06:58 PM

I believe the Chevrolet powered car was called a Corvette and they didn't do very well. If you are talking about the Chapparal, they didn't do very well against the coupes or the GT's either. I was just watching Le Mans yesterday and there were several Ford GT's running. Didn't see a single Chapparal anywhere.

azfordman 06-13-2010 07:06 PM

Dan.....I was talking about the 'vettes. Just being a smarty pants.....
The best part of being a car guy is the rivalry between brand loyalties. It burns me to see all the 350/350 combos in classic Henry steel! One of these days I will build a Ford powered chevelle or vette just to spite them.

There is a reason you see Chevy power in all cars but rarely ever see Ford power in anything but a ford.
What is that reason??????:confused::confused::confused:
