Here is my modification to be able to fit into the car.......without the seat there is a lot of room. For those wondering the red lines show how much room I gain without the seat.

You drive the car with no seat at all? How big are you?%/

6' 5" and around 275lbs. I knew going into cobra ownership I would have to make some mods to be able to fit, but it turned out to be a very easy fix. I do have a comp seat I am going to modify with thin foam so it "looks" better, but as it is the car is very roomy and comfortable once I am inside!

Uhh, he's only got one inch on me.... And 85 pounds. I'm betting I could out run him though if push came to shove.;)

azfordman 08-21-2010 09:37 AM

The only issue I have is having only contact on my tail bone does get uncomfortable after a while. I am planning on using layered and staggered foam to get support on a longer section of my seat and that should help a lot. FWIW the blue foam I am using is a cut up aerobics mat....Wallyworld to the rescue again!

No argument, I'm a lover not a fighter! Then again...after 18 or 20 beers and a half dozen shots of Jack I tend to get pretty indestructible.......:D

I meant that he is driving his car around sitting on just a yoga mat for support. Gives new meaning to the raw experience of driving a cobra. Now autocrossing sitting on a yoga mat might be a whole nother level.

In all honesty Doug, driving the car is not anywhere as "raw" as I thought it would be. Then again I grew up hot rodding old pick ups with straight front axles and leaf springs...compared to those the cobra is quite refined.

I think you're the most dedicated cobra owner I've ever heard of ! :3DSMILE:
How about using a bean bag chair ? ;)

You remind me of the actor Richard Kiel, aka Jaws in the Jams Bond movies, when he yanks,.... out the car seat so he could fit in the car !

What's your plans for seat belts ?

All the power to you buddy.

That's funny!!! About 2/3's of the comments I get are about the car itself and the other third are about the fact that I am actually getting into/out of that tiny cockpit!
The car has a nice set of racing belts bolted through the floor to the frame rail and the drive shaft safety loop. In the pic you can see the right side belt draped over the trans tunnel.

FUNFER2 08-21-2010 12:25 PM

This cobra may,.....have enough leg room ! :p

Has belts and, gets your ass off the floor. ;)

Just teasing you my friend. You'll love driving your cobra.

6'5" & 275 lbs

6'4" & 190 lbs

I'd rather be behind AZ when a strong wind kicks up.

He came back from his first drive looking like he was going to sleep at the wheel as the car rides so nicely. His eyes did get a couple of sizes larger when we gave it some vacuum and timing though. I'm still not sure if his truck (huffed Lightning) might be faster than his Cobra, he never suggested I drive one and we race them. I would never have agreed to such reckless tomfoolery anyway ;-)

This is exactly the reason that we own these cars. A little "tomfoolery", amusing choice of words by the way, keeps us young. :D

Danr55 08-21-2010 04:47 PM

Nick, you know what happens to folks who tell lies?

Ya, scratch that nose....

John-Tucson 08-21-2010 09:31 PM

Hey "FUNFER2", do you happen to know where I can get one of those smaller Cobras ? The black one . I have grandkids that would love one. Thanks for any help that you can give me.
