Ralphie, didn't realize that you drove the car enough to break it. What happened, other than coming from the blue oval people?

You just need to man up and spend your summers in AZ. Quit woosing out and running away from the warm, dry heat of our Sonoran desert.

Cam went soft, the two lobes on #7 were almost round and others showed pitting and wear. Don't know why, religiously changed oil but most of the flat tappets were also slightly con-caved, with one actually having a hole worn through.
Had it rebuilt with roller cam, tappets and rockers, stronger push rods, ported and polished GT40 heads with beefed up valve springs. Also went with RPM Airgap intake, a performance clutch and road-race oil pan, and a few other things.
It sure runs a lot smoother and can definitely feel the extra power.
Now back up north to work a little to pay for it.
Ralph

Steel not hardened enough will wear down the lobes! So I hear!
I'll take any other explanation.

Tinney, if I had worked in China for twenty years, it would have been a Roush!

It helps, but look at it this way, its a retirement present for me and I figured I only live once.

And not to put a fine point on it, I just read the post about Michael Sarrazin dyin' at 70, and I realize I'll be retiring at 70, so talk about then livin' it up, an burnin' bridges, doin' burnouts, chasin' my wife and acting like a silly kid again, yeah, bring it.

Cheers, John, AKA, tin-man

By any chance you were running Mobile One full syn oil?
Mine did the exact same thing after switching to the high dollar oil.

So Karl, are you calling Ralphie a wimp, I thought the club was made up of fine upstandin' gents, not wimps?

BTW never heard the expression "woosing", boozing, yeah, but woosing, never, so help me understand.

Ralphie, is you gonna let that stand, sure sounds like a challenge?

Cheers, John, AKA, tin-man
