So, we meet at I-60 and Idaho Rd. Saturday morning about 7:30 and hook up in Winkleman around 8:30? Sound right?

John-Tucson 05-01-2011 11:00 PM

Danr55, thanks for putting a time on the day. I have checked the forecast temps for Saturday: Phx = 96, Globe =88. No percipation expected. The restaurant is : Maria's
Restaurant, 640 Morris Rd., Hayden, AZ. 520-356-6807. It is the same one that we have been to in the past. I spoke with her and she will have the restaurant ready for us. Please phone her and let her know how many will be coming from Phoenix before you leave. I'll be doing the same from Tucson. If you get there first, get in and get your orders in. I'll ask her to have water glasses on the table. We'll see you at 8:30 am. Let the Challenge begin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Danr55 05-02-2011 07:02 AM

John, that was supposed to be a question. Just made sense since the guys from the west side are not big on getting up early on the weekend.

mikiec 05-02-2011 01:12 PM

You got that right.....

I'll be there.

John, do I need to bring money?

Danr55 05-03-2011 10:47 AM

Mikie, From what I've seen of responses so far, you need to bring money.. This may be the first year that Tucson wins.

dave from mesa 05-03-2011 12:42 PM

Maybe Maybe not. Think we are going. Mike B is going and bringing Karl. Does that count as two, well maybe 1 1/2 since Karl really doesn't have his car done.

John-Tucson 05-03-2011 10:29 PM

Mikiec, If I was you, I'd go to the bank or post office and get some nice shiney dollar coins. As usual, I don't have a clue as to how many of the Tucson guys will attend. Our two snow-birds have left and they are really strong supporters of this run. Anyone up for a side bet ? I'll give a roll of brand new pennies to each Cobra that you guys have over 20. You give us a Susan B. Anthony dollar for each one we have over 7.

Danr55 05-04-2011 05:42 AM

John, Are you retired from the IRS? Your math looks like you may be....

mikiec 05-04-2011 06:53 AM

John,

I have some of the golden ones.

Mike

mikiec 05-04-2011 01:02 PM

George is wimping out. It's to early wine, wine, wine.

Danr55 05-04-2011 01:49 PM

Talk to his boss. Viv should be able to whip him into shape.. Wait a minute.....whip..perhaps not the right word to get him OUT of the house.

Positraktion 05-05-2011 11:39 AM

Hey it was her idea that it was TOO EARLY....she gets up early all week and likes to sleep in until at least 9:00 on Saturday and Sunday. We have to leave here around 6:30 to get over there for 7:30......Besides a day lounging around the pool with cocktails sounds relaxing......Posi...........

mikiec 05-05-2011 01:17 PM

Again.... Let her sleep. I'm leaving Ginny home as it is to early for her.

Cocktails are only good after 2pm. Oh, I forgot you're French. They drink 24 hrs a day. LOL

John-Tucson 05-05-2011 02:53 PM

George isn't coming either ? You guys are down to seven Cobras now. Let the fun begin !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mikiec 05-05-2011 03:09 PM

It's OK. I'll have money and the plaque with me.

Danr55 05-05-2011 06:37 PM

If we loose, it's because of George!

John-Tucson 05-05-2011 06:47 PM

Danr55, would you consider phoning George when you leave at 7;30 am. You could remind him that his sleeping -in has cost Mikiec $$$. Or, is that George's plan ? Why doesn't George like Mikiec ?

It IS way too early..... In order for me to meet the Tucson group at 7 a.m. I have to leave my house by 6 a.m. at the latest. In order to get up, make and have my coffee, and actually be awake enough to drive I have to be up by 4:30 a.m. on my day off!!! I am planning on going but no promises.... Seriously, I need to form a splinter cell of the Arizona group who thinks these early morning drives are nuts! How about an after noon/evening drive once in a while??? Too hot in the afternoon to drive a convertible???? I think you East coast fellas need to move back home! LOL!

Danr55 05-06-2011 06:31 AM

John, I'm not sure what the thing is between MikieC and George. I wonder if Ginny and Viv know? Oh.. sorry. It's not that kind of thing.....is it?

AZFM, It is too hot in the afternoon to drive a convertible....much less one that blows hot air from the engine bay all over your legs and feet and up into your face. (Where the hell is all of that hot air on New Years Day driving up Yarnell when it's minus 80C and your freezin your cojones?).. If you don't want to get up early, buy a Chevy Impala or a Chevette/Corvette what ever they call them now...with A/C and cruise with the Chebbyheads. No offense Jeff/Karl.. Or is there?

azfordman 05-06-2011 08:24 AM

Dan, it's too early because not all of us are geriatrics who are done with dinner by 4 p.m. and in bed by 6! Friday night is usually a party night. I think if you are going to cry about the heat you should buy the fracking Corvette! It's ARIZONA!!!!!! Man up!!!! Sorry John, you Tucson guys are on your own.... First the Phoenix guys diss me on the Route 66 run and now this BS...... I've got better things to do than waste my time with the likes of them.
