AZ Cobra owner killed in Motorcycle crash.

Sam and Linda McClintock were killed on Friday morning near Tuba City, AZ. They were on their motorcycle heading north when a truck made a left turn in front of them. They both wore helmets. Sam has been a member of the Tucson Cobras about five years. I'll pass on more info as I receive it.

My sincere condolences.
Too many people do not see motorcycles and it sucks big time.

YerDugliness 08-10-2011 10:09 PM

I drove a motorcycle for 32,000+ miles, quit the day my daughter was born.

I figured at 32K without an incident, it was about my turn. I didn't want her to grow up knowing her dad as an invalid, much less just a memory.

I know how easy it is to miss a motorcycle...they are so small and in these days of 3/4 ton pickups and SUV's, we're not use to looking for small vehicles.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Sam and Linda.

Dugly

John, I am extremely saddened by this news, did they leave any family, what if anything can I do to help?

Sam and Linda I know you are now in a better place, may God shed his grace upon you.

My condolences to their family. Sad to lose members of the Cobra community, especially like that. God bless their family, hope the didn't leave behind little ones.
That's always so tough on a family, but even more so if small children are now without parents.

SandyC 08-11-2011 10:27 AM

Such a tragedy, I am so sorry for the loss.

God Bless and I'll say a prayer for them. I rode a lot years ago, and had a few close calls. This is a tough one. My thoughts go out to the family.

Murky781 08-11-2011 03:24 PM

My wife and I both will say a prayer for them. We hope their family will be strong and go forward. God Bless them.

John....such tragic and sad news. My condolences to the family.

Awful. Condolences to the McClintock family, and prayers for the deceased and the mourning.

It's depressing that, 30 years after publication of the Hurt Report, still "[t]he failure of motorists to detect and recognize motorcycles in traffic is the predominating cause of motorcycle accidents. The driver of the other vehicle involved in collision with the motorcycle did not see the motorcycle before the collision, or did not see the motorcycle until too late to avoid the collision." (Wikipedia) Besides making bikes more visible using headlamp modulators, wide lightbars, bright clothes and paint schemes, I'm not sure what else will work to light up the easily-overloaded human perception system when a bike comes into view. It's all on the motorcyclist to presume invisibility.

My thought and prayers go to there family

John-Tucson 08-12-2011 12:02 PM

The service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13th, at the Tucson Tabernacle, 2555 N. Stone, Tucson, AZ. I will tell the family of all of your thoughts and prayers.

AZ Pete 08-12-2011 12:22 PM

John, please express my condolences to the family.

And, the rest of you remember that a small Cobra is also not seen by some drivers and some say it is like a motorcycle with four wheels. Be safe.
Pete
