Well lordy, lordy you do listen, seems someone from Club Cobra once suggested you hold an open house, glad to see you are following our advice. Y'all changed your troll pricing practice as well and are now not even showing any price, well I guess that's okay in a way and you will get to sort the tire kickers from the punters. Ok so I will commit to visit you from China and will have my Cobra available. anyone else from the Arizona Cobras want to make this a caravan?

Who da main dude we ask for when we arrive?

Cheers, tin-man

It doesn't seem quite right to me that an authorized Shelby dealer lists their Superformance inventory as Cobras.

Danr55 11-30-2011 05:31 AM

Al, Doesn't Superformance build bodies for Shelby American for the Cobra and the Daytona? Other than the price, does the Shelby name have any real value other than the intrinsic point of recognition?

Al G 11-30-2011 08:35 AM

They are built in the same factory but are not the same car. I’m not trying to reopen the real versus replica argument or anything like that.

My point is that Carroll Shelby and his various companies have gone to great length and expense to protect the Cobra name. Sometimes they’ve been successful, sometimes they haven’t. Superformance is an authorized licensee, but they don’t call their product a Cobra. I don’t know the details of the license, but they appear to avoid the name Cobra in their literature. Thus, it seems strange to me that an authorized Shelby dealer would call the Superformance products Cobras. Isn’t that like biting the hand that feeds him?

I think when shelby saw how much better of a car the superformance is over the glass csx they had to jump on board, where else they gonna get there bodies made, you scratch my back ill scratch yours kinda thing, shelby seems to do alot of that to make extra cash.

Scottsdale Sport and Classic Cars became a Superformance Dealer. Along with the authority to sell SPF they also sell Shelby per contract. So, they are not a Shelby Dealer selling SPF but a Superformance dealer selling Shelby. SPF calls their replicas "Mark IIIs" as does (or did) FFR per settlement agreement including Shelby and Ford. BUT, we people in the replica (and original) world call them all cobras. A more precise descriptive term. We have a fellow car lover with many collectable vehicles. One of which is a Mustang GT500 we all refer to as the "Shelby" because then we all know which one we are talking about.

Should not be a surprise to anyone, hell, they're still figurin' out how to price their cars, so asking them to differentiate their inventory by brand will surely cause them a significant amount of confusion and pain.:LOL::LOL:

Looks like a duck, walks like a duck, sounds like a duck.... run.

Slither, What happened to your avaatar and the picture of the beautiful car of yours?

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 12-12-2011 12:30 PM

Just to get this show on top again. A reminder about 9am Saturday at Scottsdale Sports and Classic on the south east corner of Hayden and Raintree. I'll be there weather permitting.

I changed it to my own personal QR code. Have you scanned it yet? Do you have a smartphone? If you do, download any FREE QR code scanner app and follow the instructions. Let me know what you see! ;)

I'm gonna try to make it, would love to sit in a 90" and 96" wheelbase car and see what people have done to create more leg/foot room as "I think" I'm gonna have some fitment issues (6'3, 250, bum knee, size 12 shoe)

Even with a cobra, there are so many good machanics and fabricators out there that they can make more foom if need be, I know of some cobras with footboxes dropped, pedals reconfigured for large shoe size, etc, once you drive one if you have'nt yet you will be hooked, think of the tq of a Dodge Cummins Pickup, hp of any supercar, and the weight of a motorcycle=fun:D:D:D:D

Danr55 12-13-2011 05:20 AM

Hey you tall guys quit complaining. Have you ever seen Carrol Shelby up close? He stands about 6'4" and slides in and out of these cars at 85 the same as he did at 40. I got to watch up close and personal. All it takes is practice. and a little limbering up.
