New guy
Traded my '86 GN for an almost go-karting MK3 last night and had some questions.
Some quick info on the car; 98 cobra drivetrain (73k) suspension (4 link) done with bilstein coilovers fuel lines and brake lines are done Wire Diet harness laid out on the car, but nothing connected What seems like all of the parts, are there. I guess my main questions are, Any tips or tricks? I have the manuals and will be following them but didnt know if you guys recommend doing anything in a different order. Any mods that would really make the car better? Have been looking at expanding the footbox as much as possible, and maybe making a mid shift conversion. Who is reasonable for paint on a cobra in the valley? I know "reasonable" can be a relative term, but who does everyone use. Anyone have a 4.6 DOHC cobra I can run questions by if and when they come up? Thanks for any help you can give! Really excited about getting going on this project. Cory Dunn |
Wow. Congratulations and condolences all at the same time. I have an older Contermporary with a Ford FE motor so I can't offer any info at all, save on the painting. There are a couple of places you can go. Hotrods by Dean is probably the best work but also the highest cost. There are a couple of places downtown Scott's and The Body Shop that do passable work. Gordon Levy in Maricopa also paints Cobras. I'm sure that before the weekend is over, there will be several other recommendations made.
Look forward to having you join us on a couple of runs as the summer wanes. Dan |
Cory...I'm a FFR MKI owner living in Mesa. My build went smooth and I am still making new MODs each year. I have helped many builders over the past 12 years with their build. Either "hands on" or recommendations and/or suggestions. I know you have too many questions to ask here so why don't we set up a time when I can come by and give you some assistance.. You can call me at 480-218-5412. I'm retired and have lots of time to help you. I'll drive over in my Black w/ silver 2000 MKI.

Cory
Mike is the wiring guru. Just ask Karl. |
Don't ask Karl. It will take you another 3 years to finish the car.
Get it done. We have a major run comming up in October. |
I promise there will be a run before October. I can't wait that long. Major, minor or otherwise.
|
You gotta have it runnin to go on a run. And yes, there will be many runs before Laughlin.

Thanks to Mike for coming over today and checking out my project! Gave me some good tips as well. Good Guy!
|
TIPS from Mikie? Be careful. Be very careful!

Not that Mike. Mike B.

Tips
That will be $200!

Guess you have to pay for that car somehow.. Extortion is as good a way as any I can think of.
|
Cory...I talked to Russ T. today and he said he hooked you up with some parts. One thing I forgot to talk with you about is the footbox. Make sure it feels good before you button it up. You can bend the petals a little if you want some more spacing between each. I'm sure Russ' gas pedal will help a lot too. Call when you need some help. Now I know how to get to your house.

Cory, if it's not too late, consider installing a cruise control if you plan on doing any long distance driving. ie. PHX to TUS.
|
Be calm- drive slow- always look over your shoulder when yielding- watch out for Camaros- remember you have a neutral gear at lights- watch the temp gage:LOL:%/ do some track time:rolleyes: $$
|
I agree with John. There are many runs on freeways where the cruise control would be nice to have.
|
Cory, I would definitely look at enlarging both foot boxes. I have size 12's and it can get tight when I wear my running shoes. If I ever have the body off again, I will definitely be doing that. HTH

"cruise control" Next thing you know, they'll want cup holders and radios.... !!
