Took the 60 to Show Low
I took the 60 to Show Low this past Memorial Day weekend (Thanks to all who served and are serving). I am sure it would be a fun drive when not a Holiday weekend. Traffic sucked. In my opinion, if someone cannot drive the speed limit, they should pull over and let traffic pass. That being said, I am not sure I have ever driven a road with so many turns and curves. Next time I might need Dramamine!!!!!

Is that the Salt River Canyon road?
If so, that's a beautiful ride for sure.

I think it is. I am going to drive it during a week day sometime. Hopefully in the fall.

Dave, Try the run with us in September if you like twists and turns.. and a lot less traffic.

I would like to do that run. As it gets closer I will let you know my status. I hate how work and other things get in the way of fun.
Thanks

There certainly are advantages to us of the great unemployed, unwashed, and huddled masses.

Not so fond memories of that road. In 1971 my GF (now wife of 42 years) and I took a cross country camping trip in a VW hippy bus. After stopping to take a photo on the Continental Divide, we got back into the vehicle only to find that the pilot bushing had frozen on the trans input shift, rendering the clutch useless. So we ground gears up and down the Salt River Canyon until limping into Globe, AZ, which fortunately had a VW dealership. Even better, the service manager was a car guy, and after depositing our hurting bus in his shop, he not only put us up at his home for the night, but took us on a tour of all the hot cars in Globe.

What a nice story, Marco!
Well, all but the frozen input shaft bushing!

The Salt River Canyon road is a shell of it's former self. It's now just a bunch of very lazy turns. All the hairpin single lane roads have been widened and curves have been reduced sort of straightened out.

Sort of sounds like you a couple of years ago, Mikie! Well, I don't know about the straightening out part!
