Default Barrett-Jackson 2014

New structure, brick and mortar building finally ready as the bidding tent. Whole layout different. No "down on the field" displays. The area is now the ride experience of corvettes and mustangs drifting and making noise. Almost all display tents now in higher area with pavement floor. Planning 1400 cars this year. Artsy-Craftsy vendors more spread out in large tented area. I was able to park within 100 feet of the entrance this year. Superformance and Shelby both have huge displays. Probably 30 cars with custom Shelby Mustangs between. Coupe at Shelby's, GT40 & Caterham at SPF. Saw Lyle Reinsch, Bill Bryan, Bill Henricsen. Only saw 6 of the 9 cobras on block.
Here are some photos of 6 of the cobras to be auctioned, the Displays and a few extra.

The arena is a City of Scottsdale park. The original area was called "the horse arena" back when I lived there. It certainly has grown up. The year of the big wind (2009?) was the year the lower parking lot flooded. It is a huge polo field (?) but it is also a drainage catch basin. Some cars were up to their door handles. I had a parking pass that got me close but the back area was way wet. They had a front end loader clearing out tire tracks and putting gravel so people could take a run at the ramp. It was a mess.

I went yesterday. Impressive. The new building has added a new atmosphere to the actual auction. Not as many "junk" cars as in the past. It has developed into a mini circus with airplanes, boats, and tons of high dollar women's clothing as well as the old gas station pumps, old slot machines, trips to Alaska, Montana, Wyoming with guides, lots and lots of car art, I could go on and on. It's no longer a car auction, it's an event to be a part of.

They didn't have the Tilted Kilt girls there this year serving drinks while we smoke stogies out back. Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row replaced it. Lots of high heels !

I ran across a CSX4000 in their results area stating #4347. When I tried to look it up in the Registry, they skip right over it and it's not listed. It lists 4346, then 4348. Wonder what the story is there?

My bad. I missed the part in the results that said 2012 auction, so I guess that would explain it if it went off new back then.

It is a lot of fun to go there and see the cars and the auction, but I have had it with their TV production with all the gimmicks and nonsense.

I will be watching Mecum, they actually focus on the cars.

Bernie, Maybe that's because it's never been registered..?? Maybe this is the first sale?

Isn't the registry voluntary? So the owner might not have submitted info. The other possibility is it sold after the registry was published
